don't know if anyone saw the interview with the streets in hot press recently, unfortunately i don't have it in front of me since i was only reading it in tower, but i was interested to see that your man started off with something of a rant about people who would class him as "pop",and he was fairly keen to point out that he considered his music "rock and roll"

i remember there was something on nyplm a while ago about an interview with someone,(something to do with piano magic,i think, who i know nothing about)where they were giving out about pop music (i think it was r'n'b to be more specific)and this seems similar, its odd how you can assume a musician would have been in a certain mindframe when making something, only to find they themselves were thinking completely the opposite... anyway,i'm really starting to like the album, some of the strings and so on are excellent...

Bands can't be rockist :)

Does that mean if I join a band I'll be the Acceptable Face of Something Else?

It means you'll be "The Rockism It's Okay To Like"

I think trying to connect with some sort of imagined 'spirit of rock 'n' roll' is quite different from being a rockist - I think Tom's right; can bands really be rockist? Besides, I know we've covered it before, but rock 'n' roll and Rock with a capital R are quite different, albeit related, species.

the rockist thing was more of a joke,i was mainly talking about his eagerness to distance himself from the notion of "pop"...
