Making the sound 'harder' and 'blander' at the same time, how the FUCK does one accomplish that?

'Listen Like Thieves' has the distinction of being one of few records I've bought, then sold. C'mon dave, you serious?

listen like thieves was one of the first albums (er...cassettes!) that i ever purchased. i can remember hearing it in the tower store and running over to grab myself a copy. (ditto: the queen is dead, but...) i kind of worked my way backwards from there until i had (gasp!) FOUR ALBUMS BY INXS!!! this was unheard of at that point in my life. i remember expressing this sentiment to my cousin (best friend at the time) My god, how much do you have to love a band to have FOUR of their records.

The swing was among the first LP's i ever bought. i dont really remember which was actually the first. i do remember having a particular love of this record, esp 'original sin' and 'what i say' It's hard for me to think clearly about this music now, it's from a remote part of my life. a time when i'd fall asleep every night listening to cassettes in my headphones (all i had was a cassette deck, no stereo yet!) i was falling in love with music. but i'd heard so little. by the time i left home for college, i had amassed nearly ONE WHOLE CRATE of records, although i had a number of cassettes, but probably nor more than 100 or so.

well, blah blah blah. i dont listen to inxs evah anymore, although i've put the swing on as we speak. actually that's not true i did pull out that listen like thieves cassette recently, but shelved it pretty quick because the sound quality of the 17(??) yr old cassette is fairly miserable. i can't refute the opinion that 'listen' is blander, although i probably wouldnt agree. i think it is a superior album, but i'm no good at explaining my opinions, i'm not cerebral enough i think. i'll just say that there are more GRATE songs, like 'kiss the dirt', 'good + bad times', 'THIS TIME'

I could have written Ron's last post, except for the fact that I have no idea where my INXS albums are now -- I had them on cassette and I gave all of those away to Goodwill a couple of years back.
