Which artist/group do you really wish would sit back down on their ass and never release anything ever again?

Jeff W, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Salmon
Dylan and Cohen have released some of the best work of their careers in the last ten years, nothing that the evil jagger can say

anthony, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

nu-metal brigade should remain in perpetual silence! marylin manson too.

francesco, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Everybody. Seriously - why not have a year or two off. No new music to give us a chance to get to grips with what's already around.

Dr. C, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ryan adams

keith, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can we make it anyone whose name ends with all those letters, to get two in one go?

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course there are worse bands that I find it easy not to pay attention to, but King Crimson...ugh Fripp has been making a regressive mockery of himself since he brought the name out of mothballs in 1994. He, Trey Gunn, and Pat Mastellotto should have plead with David Sylvian to allow the band they had put together to remain, or Fripp should have continued as a session musician for bands like The Grid, The Future Sound of London, and The Orb.

brian, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

All those homo bands who sing about how much they like to suck dick like Bum-41 and Anal Ant Farm!! They probably wont sit down because it hurts their asses so much!!

Fernando Venezuela, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Peaches. But then again, that's cause I wish she'd never released anything in the first place. Tired old beats, bad psuedo-old-school programming and some jaded Toronto hipster chick banging on about (ooh, so rebellious) fucking.

Sorry, my housemate has been listening to the album a lot lately and it makes my fucking teeth hurt.

speak of the devil, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"the fall. .... the glory days are gone, long gone..." - blasphemy! the unutterable is one of the best rock albums of the past five years! uh!

J Blount, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PR!MAL SCR34M. They can fuck off forever.

I would say (re point above) that tho' crimson has certainly lapsed into lame self-parody, well it seems so to me anyway, the stuff fripp did w/ orb and FSOL is about the lamest he's ever done, and I'd add said acts to the list, Xcept they already seem to have managed this themselves ha ha ha. The Grid's elpee w/bob fripp, dagmar krause etc etc I liked a lot & i think i'll look out a copy.

Norman Phay, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, and ditto to bob pollard, ryan adams

J Blount, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, indeed. If Primal Scream choose to stop making records, Bobby G can just come round my house, and I'm sure I can find LOADS to keep him from getting bored. mmmmmmm...

speak of the devil, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BILLY BRAGG

Robin Carmody, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lord C.: Shudder to Think broke up several years ago, so you've got your wish there.

As for myself: I think bands should put out as many records as they like, but they should also announce when their official corpus is complete, so the ones after that don't really count...

Douglas, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

kraftwerk

jamie, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lord C./Douglas: so did Pavement.
After hearing their new single, I wouldn't shed a tear if Prodigy broke up. I could also probably live without hearing another damn thing by Aerosmith, who get further and further away from the big stoopid glue-sniffing funfunfun of "Sweet Emotion" with every passing album.

Nate Patrin, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ditto on Aerosmith. Also - Paul McCartney, retroactive to 1970.

J Blount, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I would include Depeche Mode, Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre and Madonna

MICHELINE, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

boy, you sound like fun

J Blount, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Marilyn Manson

Jez, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my official corpus is complete, there's the corpus-beeper

mark s, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Radiohead, Patti Smith, White Stripes, Dandy Warhols, H.D.U., Shihad (/Pacifier), Moby, that cartoon character band (the Gorillaz or something), Neil Finn, The D4, The Datsuns, Anastasia, Gabrielle, Brandy, Cher, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or anything associated, Iggy Pop.

haloist, Tuesday, 28 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd shed no tears if Guns 'n Roses or Stone Temple Pilots never released anything again.

Agreed, the Stones and Chili Peppers are looong past their sell-by dates.

I'd probably think it a good thing if a bizarre accident at an Ozzfest, Warped Tour, or any nu-metal festival were to take out all of the participating bands.

j.lu, Wednesday, 29 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

haloist has it right, basically flying nun should close up shop.

keith, Sunday, 2 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ten years pass...

Ten years on, any new suggestions? Wow, Flying Nun have been stagnant for ten years!! Apart from reissues.
