How to find bands who focus on special concepts?

Hi ! I'm not living in an English speaking country ,so I've been listening just to very old bands : "Beatles" , "Eagles" , etc . But now, I like to find contemporary bands or singers to listen to but at the same time I'm looking for kind of music not as harsh as Meatl ones or as ridiculous as Rap ones. I'd like to find sort of music whose songs are dealing with real humanitarian problems . I would be very glad if you introduce me some of such bands or singers. Thanks.

Is the inability to get laid a real humanitarian problem?

I dont know if Meat1 is meant to mean metal, but 'Tool' are good and focus on 'special concepts'. Probaly worth checking out their most recent LP if my suspicions are correct on meat1 meaning metal. It's less metal than their former records.

I suppose the Manic Street Preachers, Pulp, Radiohead and REM would be good places to start. They touch on humanitarian subjects, and have the sly tuneage to make it accessible.

Was this a piss-take or not? At first I thought it wasn't, hence my offer of advice, but am starting to feel that I have been guilty of being too ready to take things at face value. There's only one person who can put my mind at rest...Mira! Return to thread!
