This album reminds me of WINTER. And SNOW. And being 14 years old, obv. I know which track is my fave and it's always been "Advent" because of the amazing bassline. They were still showing their punk roots, there, a bit.

Also I'm feeling goth today.

Today?

Advent for me too.

I still can't quite figure out that photograph.

Advent for you too!! Wow. I'm...I've never known anyone who understood why that's my fave. Yeah the picture is weird. Delightfully freaking weird.

Advent, easy. I need to listen to this tho? I haven't played that album in 15 years or so

The bass and piano for Advent are both very cool, how many DCD songs have actual choruses?

― MaresNest, Monday, 24 November 2008 09:59 (seventeen years ago)

Listening to Advent right now- funny how, as many Perry songs, it could easily be turned into a glitzy Neil Diamond showtune.

― baaderonixx, Monday, 24 November 2008 10:02 (seventeen years ago)

wow - omg Mesmerism!

― baaderonixx, Monday, 24 November 2008 10:06 (seventeen years ago)

so weird to actually understand what Lisa is singing on that one!

― baaderonixx, Monday, 24 November 2008 10:07 (seventeen years ago)

Yea, some of them sound like Neil Diamond played down a long dark tunnel.

― MaresNest, Monday, 24 November 2008 10:15 (seventeen years ago)

Hold on, it seems we never had a real DCD poll

― baaderonixx, Monday, 24 November 2008 10:37 (seventeen years ago)

Go to it!

Need advice on those potentially troublesome later albums, anyone help?

― MaresNest, Monday, 24 November 2008 11:13 (seventeen years ago)

which do u consider as later albums?

― baaderonixx, Monday, 24 November 2008 11:19 (seventeen years ago)

For me, anything after The Serpent's Egg I guess.

'Aion' used to be my favorite DCD albums back when I really loved them. 'Into the Labyrinth', their cross-over album in a way, is probably their weakest but it still has some exceptional high points (eg. "Yulunga"). Final album 'Spiritchaser' is pretty good, more African influenced than in the mast and quite a different beast from their 80's stuff.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

De Profundis for me..

A favourite DCD album poll would be difficult for me.. For a long time I really loved the serpents egg/dying sun/aion trilogy the best, but about a year ago I pulled out the first two and loved them in a way I had never done before....

Oh, and the cover photo is just classic, with the tip-up truck in the corner to remind you that the picture wasn't taken at the dawn of time.

Look, we have to convert people to Dead Can Dance. We must form a committee and design a strategy for this.
