How about the track where, for the chorus, they just yell the title of the song over and over again? Oh wait, that's every single one of them.

how many mc's

craig sager (eman), Tuesday, 25 November 2008 01:03 (seventeen years ago)

This album canonized the samples:

Wind Parade (Buck 'Em Down)
Ridin' High (Shit Iz Real)
and Tidal Wave (Who Got the Props?)

...which makes all 3 picks obvious, but mine's still remains Gotcha Opin.

Now that I think about it, EPMD's Please Listen To My Demo canonzied Ridin' High in 1990, but anyway...

u da man u da man u da man

at the time i really liked these shouty repetitive choruses.

titchyschneiderMk2, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

beatminerz seriously had the *heaviest* beats of anyone around the time this came out.

titchyschneiderMk2, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 19:34 (seventeen years ago)

remixes are indeed as good as if not better than the originals, which is saying something. i think it was in their wiki that i read that they pioneered the shouty posse chorus. i'd never contemplated that that had an origin.

Granny Dainger, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

Haha me neither. I think you could argue they perfected it though.

Uh, my own shitty songs had them beaten by at least a year.

It was kind of a Miami Bass staple, needless to say.

The magic of Black Moon was partly Beatminerz, and moreover, Bucshot's breathy, smoke hazed flow.

I think Buckshot & Method Man would've made some fucking great collabs around this time.

yeah i mean i love meth forever...but...i sort of miss the kinda spaced out menacey spooky vibe he had in the early days esp on tical...was def in line with black moon.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

"U Da Man" for the first appearance of Smif N Wessum (I think?) and Buckshots total WTF rasta-inspired verse, beating out "Who Got The Props" - one of the 90s' best hip hop singles - by a nose

Remixes >>> album, though, obviously. It's almost as if Buckshot (Shorty) really found his style between this album and the singles for this album

Poor 5 Ft Accelerator - lordy what a moniker

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Monday, 29 December 2008 23:31 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i voted u da man cuz it was the first song that jumped into my head when i thought about them shouting the hook

And, uh, at least two of us voted for "U Da Man." I call foul!

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 01:58 (seventeen years ago)

How can you hate on "Buck Em Down"?

The Reverend, Tuesday, 30 December 2008 02:02 (seventeen years ago)

Not hating on it, but over "Who Got Da Props" and "How Many Emcees???" Ninja please
