There is a Poison Idea song called "The Badge" that is just fantastic. Obviously N.W.A. has to get mentioned at some point too.

"Dicks Hate the Police" by the Dicks comes to mind as a Classic. I can't exactly imagine many police officers liking that song, though.

Then again, a friend of mine once had to talk to a police officer here in New York who had a Crass sticker on his notebook. My friend asked him about it, and the cop said he loved Crass. That just seems so wrong...

I wouldnt be surprised if a few have IceT/Body Count on just before they go bash some heads in.

It's "Officer Krupke" hence the hilarious punchline "Gee, Officer Krupke - Krup you!" oh my sides. I love how Krupke feels powerless in the face of these clever lyrics, like "If only I had some way to stop the incessant mockery of these 30-year-old juvenile delinquents"

Would Black Steel be a cop song? Not really,ey? But what the hell, I wuv it regardless. Especially Tricky's version. And we also had a cop in The Village People.

one year passes...
HEEEEYY!!! I found this tape at Salvation army, by the "Royal Canadian Mounted Police Choir". It had a song on it called "Fotheringay." That's right, cops almost singing "father I'm gay." Huh huh huh huh! I didn't get it cuz, well it's choir music. Should I have got it even if I wouldn't listen to it, just cuz it says "Fotheringay" on it?

Do policemen sing? Yes, when they've got the time.
And when policemen sing, just tell them they're sublime.

jazz odysseus, Sunday, 25 January 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)
