You cool hipsters think you know what "indie" music is? HAHAHAHAAHHA
― Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You, Sunday, 17 August 2008 03:48 (seventeen years ago)
seriously, seriously underrated. 'lets play domination' is a lost classic.
― uptown churl, Sunday, 17 August 2008 21:56 (seventeen years ago)
supposedly being reissued soon...
― henry s, Monday, 18 August 2008 12:57 (seventeen years ago)
I was just listening to some of the earlier band 012 (who did an early version of Asbestos Lead Asbestos) the other day, and I found the I Can't Live Without My Radio 12" for 50p last week. All very timely, I would love to see a reissue of Let's Play Domination as I've never seen that anywhere!
― Colonel Poo, Monday, 18 August 2008 13:00 (seventeen years ago)
To defend Cop Shoot Cop against unkind words from six years ago, they sound more like Dig Dat Hole and under that name were around at least almost as long as WDE.
― contenderizer, Monday, 18 August 2008 16:41 (seventeen years ago)
Woah, Let's Play Domination + all those other singles would be such an excellent reissue.. especially if they put on the "Catalogue Clothes/St. Etienne" 12" which was their debut release and still their best ever.
― Mackro Mackro, Monday, 18 August 2008 17:49 (seventeen years ago)
(actually, I think "Asbestos Lead Asbestos" was their debut, duh, but I think "Catalogue Clothes" was the first thing that wasn't a 7" single.)
― Mackro Mackro, Monday, 18 August 2008 17:50 (seventeen years ago)
asbestos was their debut.
I was just listening to some of the earlier band 012 (who did an early version of Asbestos Lead Asbestos)
is this available? i'd love to hear that.

The album “Let’s Play Domination” is scheduled for re-release on Guy Fawkes Day, the 5th of November 2008, including extra extended mixes taken from “Love from Lead City”. A CD release of all the singles, A’s, B’s and 12 inch mixes is planned for early in 2009.

Spiffy!
I saw WDE live at the Hammersmith Clarendon, on the same bill as Big Black and Head of David. Sadly I can remember almost nothing abt their set, other than that they were better than HOD but not BB.
Never saw World Dom, but I saw Head of David a couple of times (with Band of Susans or AC Temple or Dustdevils or someone) and have no problem believing that World Dom were better. IIRC HoD had this weird camp man-o-metal posturing thing going on in their act, not totally unlike that guy in Circle I s'pose, but at the time I think it totally offended the uber-serious teenage noise-dude me. But yeah, sludgy and slow biker rock with a drum machine that never really sounded as menacing as their comportment would have you believe.
― NickB, Friday, 21 November 2008 11:52 (seventeen years ago)
guess this means the value of my original cd copy of let's play .. has taken a nosedive.

"Gotta MESSAGE for you people, honey.... *BRAAAAAAAAAAM BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM*"
Some of you might rememebr that I managed to get Keith to post here a couple years ago, and I've passed on messages from the man himself.
I found this missive on Myspace, I'm sure he won't mind me reposting it here...
The Latest World Dom News! Current mood: working Wow this feels strange - being Keith Dobson of World Domination Enterprises again.I'm really - really blown away with all the love thats come this way in response to this page going up. Thank you to everyone who has supported it and who has been in touch. There have been so many supportive messages and comments and two questions in particular have been asked a few times: (1) Are you going to re-release old world dom recordings? and (2) are you going to do anything new?The answers are: (1) Yes, now that 20 years have gone by, Mute records have returned all the master tapes to World Dom and we intend to make them available on CD as soon as possible. So watch this space! As well as those, there are unreleased live tapes and unfinished recordings in the archive which we also intend to release on CD in the near future. There are also film archives of the band which we hope to eventually put up on You Tube.(2) In terms of new stuff, it's too early to say whether World Dom will release anything new.Jammo and I are still good buddies, and I have a pile of amazing new material which I will definitely be recording over the next few months. I've asked Jammo to help me with some of it - and, who knows? maybe we'll play it and say - "fucking hell ..that's World Dom, that is!" ...or maybe it'll be Chris De Burgh.. That's the unpredictable joy of creating on the spin, I guess. In any case, you'll hear about it here first. Then there's Digger! The last we heard of him was about ten years ago when he was off to do missionary work in Africa. So many people ask after him, and it would be lovely if someone could let us know what he's up to these days. If you're listening Digger, we still love you!OK, so more things will be happening, the biog will be properly updated soon, and work is going on to bring you the dedicated world dom website which is at http://www.worlddom.co.ukThanks again friends!KD

i've never actually heard world domination enterprises, but i got a copy of the 012 album and its pretty funny! the asbestosleadasbestos song is the best thing on it by far. (didn't even know the 012 was the same as WDE. just found that out by going on youtube.)

― scott seward, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 15:17 (fifteen years ago)
did they re-record the 012 stuff later? cuz funkytown and asbestos are on the 012 album and people on here talk about them as WDE songs.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 15:18 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, they re-recorded them.
― Mark G, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 15:21 (fifteen years ago)
Clarification: The 012 was before World Dom.
yeah thats what i figured.
― scott seward, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 15:26 (fifteen years ago)
asbestosleadasbestos is awesome, as ever.
― progspeed you! black metallers (aldo), Wednesday, 26 January 2011 21:33 (fifteen years ago)
so, is the 012 album worth getting?
― stirmonster, Wednesday, 26 January 2011 23:50 (fifteen years ago)
the guitar sound is the best thing about it. and that diy dubby/echo cheapo production. but it IS pretty goofy at times. the funkytown cover goes on for a loooooong time. and not in a bizarro repetition Flipper kinda way. though they may have been aiming for that. it's just long. a nice 12 inch single with asbestosleadasbestos and a couple other tracks might be enough. if one existed. but everyone's different obviously.
― scott seward, Thursday, 27 January 2011 00:43 (fifteen years ago)
Plus, a whole bunch of self-penned songs that WDom didn't do.
