r&b songs w/ yung joc verses

haha I was thinking about doing a "Yung Joc was bizarrely on a lot of good songs in '08" poll w/ these and "Lookin' Boy" and the "Donk" remix.

most of these verses are pretty good actually except on "so fly" when he says "i'm a g/ i got gmail"

in any event im voting for "get it shawty"

get it shawty is dope and i actually kinda prefer jocs verse to big boi on the rmx

but this is a good thing to say to people

"So Fly" is my favorite song on this but the remix pwns the original so I voted "Killa"

haha i was just looking through the charts last night and saw this valentino song and thought "seriously who calls up yung joc in 08 for a guest verse" but i guess diddy's getting him some work or something

so fly is aite but i kinda got burnt out on it and it reminds me of a ummah beat from the love movement

i think Joc is just in that sweet spot for A&Rs where "he's recognizable enough to help get this song on the radio" and "he's a lot cheaper than shelling out for another Wayne verse" intersect

killa is underrated

i dont really know why this dude is famous tho

'get it shawty' is still pretty amazing, amazingly pretty. 'so fly' is...in the same vein, i hesitate to say "but not as good" because it's been a great jam recently, but 'get it shawty' is really next-level for me.

but i might vote for 'killa' because i always underrate it except when it's played at hip-hop class - you can get really really into that beat.

nb i don't think yung joc's verses on any of these are particularly special (but not terrible either)

i like joc a lot on rnb - he generally manages to add just enough languid ballast without ever quite disrupting the vibe. at his best (or yeah whoever phoned him up's best) he can also often lend a song an additional sorta weary shade, whether it's just of being afterparty sated ('so fly', 'buy u a drank' - reassuringly so on the latter) or something perhaps more troubled ('get it shawty'). i wouldn't swap him for anyone on those songs, even if their verses might well be better on paper.

nothing wrong with the gmail line either, fits in perfectly with all the bluetooth and blackberries and glidings around on expensive thangs going on in that tune.

oh also if anything on here's underrated it's 'portrait of love', love that jam!
haha, "cant buy love cheri we both know, so i'll have a couple drinks and some nice convo." and the bass is awesome.
