Never heard of this guy, but apparently he was a pioneer of swing while keeping one foot in his classical roots. And, he smashed stringed instruments a good 75 years before Pete Townshend. Anyone familiar with him? Good article here:

I just saw that linked at jazz.com. I've seen his name in various books but that was the first extensive thing I read about him.
