a question for those of you who have listened to the album extensively: which takes, if any, would you/have you/should i leave out of the playlist when i listen to the album. i have only listened to the album once all the way through and found it slightly repetitive but it's hard to tell with jazz on the first listen.

haha, i like that you call the experience of listening to four takes of the same song "slightly repetitive".

(not that i'm not a fan of side by side alternate takes on jazz records, i am. they can be quite enlightening and entertaining.)

it is only slightly repetitive, though. the only similarities between the four different "nuits sur le champs elysees"s is the mood, tempo and key. the bass and drum parts are different and take two is twice as long the others. that said, slightly repetitive is still repetitive.
