Black Star, although the Mos album prob has my favorite individual songs and I have a crazy soft spot for Quality

Super Cat (The Reverend), Sunday, 7 December 2008 16:00 (sixteen years ago)

train of thought - i loved this album so much when it came out. haven't listened to it in years though and i bet i'll hate half of it now. so voting pharoahe.

if there was a rawkus singles poll id probably vote body rock as its pretty much perfect or respiration (maybe kweli's best, most bearable verse?). rawkus is actually kinda underrated these days. all the guys that used to like it seem to feel embarrassed about that period and everyone else still doesnt give a shit.

titchyschneiderMk2, Sunday, 7 December 2008 17:18 (sixteen years ago)

definitely The Big Picture

basically this

Suggesteban Buttez (jabba hands), Monday, 8 December 2008 03:14 (sixteen years ago)

although 'back then' is right....i'd prob rather listen to Internal Affairs right now

Suggesteban Buttez (jabba hands), Monday, 8 December 2008 03:19 (sixteen years ago)

black star
train of thought
big picture
black on both sides
internal affairs

in that order... the rest i can take or leave, pretty hit or miss i think, but i havent listened in 5 or 6 years to basically any of this

Alright, fixed the above quote for myself...

First Hi-Tek album is underrated. Company Flow overrated, though at times I enjoy them too. Black Star album is really good of course. I really liked The Beautiful Struggle at the time, but haven't played it since the year it came out (2005?) I don't think. Never found a copy of Internal Affairs, seems to be highly out of print.

i never liked coflo all that much back then and cannibal ox is that same steez but with real rapping on top so when i was in the mood for that kind of thing cold vein went on way more than funcrusher ever did

Uncleared sample from the Godzilla movie theme in "Simon Says", they got a lawsuit from Toho or something.

Tuomas, Friday, 12 December 2008 08:34 (sixteen years ago)

And, apparently, rather than clearing the sample they deleted the album.

Tuomas, Friday, 12 December 2008 08:35 (sixteen years ago)

The label was founded by James "Rupert's Son" Murdoch, right?
