if i were voting only on album titles, Necrotism -- Descanting the Insalubrious would win because it sounds like something that some po-mo english/comp. lit. professor would come up with.

symphiphonies of sicknessesses

it's almost a tie with necroticism though.

Heartwork is perfect.

wanted to vote for necroticism but found myself selecting heartwork instead. probably because it's the one i return to the most and have consistently enjoyed more than the others over the years

The opening track on Necrotism has my two of my favourite couplets:

"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust/Diluted in water and sprayed on the crops"

and

"Bring out your dead/FOR USE AS MANURE!"

four years pass...

seeing these dudes in May at Maryland DM fest and am so stoked.

It's kind of funny, Reek was my favorite for years, but I think Symphonies is mine now, although honestly I like all through Heartwork (haven't heard Swansong yet).

I just feel like Symphonies has this severe ugliness but its controlled ugliness.

Tempted to redo in light of Surgical Steel.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Thursday, 19 March 2015 12:06 (ten years ago)

Symphonies of Sickness wuz robbed

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 19 March 2015 12:29 (ten years ago)

I never really play Surgical Steel anymore. I really liked it as a successful return to the classic Carcass sound (much as, say, Divine Intervention, Blood Of The Nations or Macabre Eternal), but every time I want to listen to Carcass I pull out the actual old records instead.

Symphonies of Sickness 1

here's the thing: this album is fucking incredibly sick and deserves six votes as well

one year passes...

Despicable is good, isn't really a high energy album like Surgical Steel, but that's why its an EP - a stopgap prior to the real deal.

the songs have more of the high string harmonized riffs, but the vocals are dope - it's like a chorus of voices again. also new guitarist Tom Draper wtf I'm not gonna get used to that name.

definitely a solid B plus, but I expect much more from next year's full-length
