Sleigh Ride vs. Winter Wonderland

Sleigh Ride

I'm going to have to stew on this one a while. "Sleigh Ride" can really swing, whereas "Winter Wonderland" seems bound to be played pretty straight. But "Winter Wonderland" has a great lyric that's almost like something off "Pet Sounds", with its underlying darkness ("we'll face unafraid, the plans that we made"). So I'll probably go with "Sleigh Ride", but not yet.

Hmmm, that's a tough one. I was going to let the Phil Spector album break the tie, but it's The Ronettes vs. Darlene Love — also tough!

I unfortunately instantly think of "Johnny Mathis' Christmas Album" with both of these entries.

I love those generic "winter" songs so much more than the legitimate Xmas songs they're always lumped together with (even tho they're probably all equally overplayed this time of year.)

yes! They're about having a good time in the winter, and yet they get lumped in with "Silent Night" and "Away In A Manger" (the religious ones). A third class is the family of Santa songs; maybe I'll poll that next.
