I remember quite well the afternoon I saw it. I was a highly impressionable 7-year old boy and they scared the hell out of me.

I had Italy in the FT Euro 2008 of music, and from what I can see, there is virtually no good Italian pop music from the last 15 years, give or take a decent MC or two. Lots of ska punk though. Italy briefly on top during the 80s and early 90s but otherwise its France all the way.

Its strange how Italy now seems to be in the same limbo France was in during the 70s-80s. These two countries seem to have swapped places sometime in the late 80s.

Although, France did have Rita Mitsouko in the 80s

and elli&jacno. and etienne daho. and lio. and...

this is really no match on the music side (on food, wine, landscape/cities, culture, girls or football, that would be harder !).

Don't know about France in the 80's, but these days Italy is musically almost dead - there are a couple of lucky exceptions, but most of our so-called artists are crap.

Italian food counts for a lot in my book. Also, Italians seemed a lot friendlier to me when I was in Europe.
