So many classics in 91. I chose Achtung Baby but it could have easily gone to Metallica/NWA/GnR depending on my mood.

Two classics: Achtung Baby, Out of Time

Two excellent albums: Ropin' The Wind, Dangerous (we know who was waiting to dethrone MJ on the other side).

One flawed good album: Use Your Illusion II.

I voted for Achtung Baby since I heard it most recently, and was still moved by the slower stuff ("So Cruel," "Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World," "Love is Blindness").

Out Of Time is way closer to flawed good album than classic, IMO.

F.U.C.K. was the best it ever got with Van Hagar, which ain't sayin' much, but hey.

2 was generally, among the fans, thought of to be better, as it had more "rock" songs. The big ballads would subsequently become hits, but among other people than the typical GnR fans.

"You Could Be Mine", which was the initial hit, was on number 2 though.

"Civil War" was also an advance single and that was on II too. hell, even the next single "Don't Cry" had the alternate lyrics version on II. maybe they were afraid people would just put the first one and not worry about the second one unless they made sure to draw more attention to it.

honestly i listened to the metallica album so many times more than anything else here.

I love me some MJ, GnR, NWA & REM, but none of those albums were really that great. STTG had its moments. I know that, to many, the black album is seen as the beginning of the end, but Christ what riffs! Sure they slowed it some and hired that jackass to produce it & make the inevitable bid for global superstardom, but it is superior to AJFA IMO &, really, the last great Metallica record. I think I'm going with Boner & Edgy on this one, tho.

Ropin' the Wind was such a let-down though, after the debut and No Fences. It was the album that really brought on the striped shirts, head mics, and Billy Joel covers.

I voted for Achtung Baby. Not only did they do a 180 on that desert sky stuff, but they pulled it off. Plus, prank calls to George HW Bush.

I sometimes still have trouble with the concept that there was a band called Color Mr Badd with two D's and they had an enormous hit called I Wanna Sex You Up" and they were an R&B group from Oklahoma.

and they all looked like clones of other pop stars (George Michael, Kenny G, Milli Vanilli).
