as of last week this is my fave desktop of all time.
it makes my hours in the office all that more enjoyable.
now, i know we have done the 'show us your record collections' thread before, but i want more images of record sleeve spines like the one above so that i can swap over from time to time.
[i dont think i have the necessary skills/tech-toys to do one of my own - though i'm about to go try.]
in other words, anyone have any more images like this that i can fixate on this week ?

Looks like one of those painfully hip collections - Raymond Scott, Bongo Rock, how correct and lifeless it all looks - that its owner has never actually listened to.

Brother Belcher (Marcello Carlin), Monday, 15 December 2008 10:31 (sixteen years ago)

yeah .. true enough.
but in my current mood, i'd love a chance to hear some of this stuff and so i dream away the daytime boredom imagining just how jayne mansfield and hendrix came to end up on vinyl togather.
[update : my camera and i are not good working partners]

mark e, Monday, 15 December 2008 10:35 (sixteen years ago)

If I did one it probably wouldn't look too good since most of my vinyl spines are all scrunched up as a result of records having been played and cherished over the years.

Maybe I should do one for my cassette spines, though.

This album came out a few months ago and is pretty boring but I thought the sleeve was really cool ('cool' in this case meaning 'appeals to music dorks exclusively')

Also all the cassettes in the booklet of the No Age album

The Tall Dwarfs album in the top photo looks a bit out of place.

NickB, Monday, 15 December 2008 11:03 (sixteen years ago)

I want to see an honest one with plenty of K-Tel, Ronco, Gary Glitter and Barbara Dickson.

ho ho ho.

mark e, Monday, 15 December 2008 12:20 (sixteen years ago)

The only other reasonably obvious candidates I can see there are the Del Fuegos. I assume the Mighty Lemon Drops got at least one listen.

in 2 sir.
bravo.
no idea what came over me when i picked that one up.
the reverse sleeve has a cut out so that you can stand it up like a photo frame - perhaps that fascinated me, unlike the music.

mark e, Monday, 15 December 2008 12:24 (sixteen years ago)

If it's their first one, I have not listened to that Mighty Lemon Drops album since 1987. Still better than that Sloan album though.

NickB, Monday, 15 December 2008 12:25 (sixteen years ago)

If it's their first one, I have not listened to that Mighty Lemon Drops album since 1987.

there is actually the debut, and their followup buried in that image.
recent charity shop finds both.
listened to each once for those weaker moments of nostalgia.

Phonetic Elvis. (stevie), Monday, 15 December 2008 14:40 (sixteen years ago)

This thread is kindof pornographic.

Beehive Reptile (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Monday, 15 December 2008 14:42 (sixteen years ago)

old tale as far as ILX is concerned, but:

What's better than getting the Fun house sessions box for free, unbidden, through the post?

Mark G, Monday, 15 December 2008 14:45 (sixteen years ago)

Hahhaahah Mark is gonna tell his story again. :)
