Dl'd this on a whim -- it's a surprisingly good instrumental drone/psych record. Can't find much about this band - hard to google due to the name (particularly since they share it with another band). Nothing on the Morr Music site (maybe it's just a distribution deal?). Help appreciated.

Yeah, I don't know much about them, but I've listened to that album a few times now which kind of saying a lot at this point. Recommended.

You want this though.

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is a member of Drone/Improv group Tarentel (Temporary Residence) and has been producing various solo projects

Ah, I fucking love Tarentel. Figures.

Great album, I love it. Seriously between the Alps, Koen Holtkamp, Grouper and Benoit Pioulard, Type Records is consistently putting out pretty outstanding stuff recently.

Well, Pioulard's on Kranky for the most part, but still, Type's become one of those labels where I will at least try to check out everything released.

This was on the AQ list a few weeks ago. They have a couple of "limited to 100 copies" cd-r releases up right now, but that limited edition stuff pisses me off.

Dear Alps,

I have access to multiple CD duplicators and will be happy to burn a few hundred more if needed.

Never heard of this band but one of the members is Alexis Georgopoulos. Love his work in Tussle and as ARP so I'm very curious to hear some Alps. Ned did an allmusic-review on their latest album.

one year passes...

Anyone heard the new one- "Le Voyage"? Just picked it up today, so far so good, but it doesn't seem like it will scales the heights of their last one (III). That was one terrific record.

It's good after a first listen. Will report back more with repeat listens.
