McLaren of course. One of the best cross over artists and a plain wicked (in the good sense of the word) manager. Applying Situationism onto Pop, classique.

but situationists aren't swindlers, fellow mars-person: they are romantic superheroes

colonel tom ahd better drugs and the atlent to match - mcclaren on his own was cool, but once he'd hooked up with those sad fucks the sexy guns or whatever they were called, well then it was all fucking downhill until he hooked up with catherine deneuve

Far from being a swindler, Col. Parker made good on every promise he made to Elvis Presley. Sure his past as a carnival barker showed through in every move he made, sure the business and artistic decisions he helped Elvis make may not always have been the most wise (in fact at least as far as his inability to tour the world later in his career goes, may have greatly contributed to the King's decline), and yes Parker's take of the profits (up to 50%, with other schemes on the side) were high, but yet agreed to by Elvis. Actually as I'm thinking this out, maybe Parker was a bit of a swindler after all.

did col. parker ever record an album? (this is a serious qn.)

jess, Sunday, 2 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No (serious answer.)

Col. P wouldn't let Elvis play abroad because he (the Col) didn't have an American passport - he swindled 'the fans'.

General McLaren > Colonel Parker > Malcolm McLaren

Did Colonel Parker ever go on crappy late night music talk shows and claim to have invented every music genre ever?
