In the Jungle Groove is a compilation album by James Brown. Released by Polydor Records in 1986 to capitalize on the popularity of Brown's music in hip hop circles, it included the first ever album release of the much-sampled 1969 single "Funky Drummer" along with a selection of previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions, and remixes.

I think I gotta go with Give It Up or Turnit a Loose (Remix), but still debating/resisting these.

"Give It Up" or "Hot Pants" would be contenders but I prefer the original versions. I was in love with "It's A New Day" when I first heard this back in '86 and I still think of it in the context of this collection rather that its own LP. But I'll probably say "Talkin' Loud and Sayin' Nothin'".

oh wow. funky drummer has the best break, i got to move has that amazing, atypical (and very New Orleansy) beat, everything else is a party. i think i have to go for talkin' loud but basically this is the bible.

five years pass...

This record just kicks ass. It's got to be one of the few records where they remixed old material and the new mixes really worked, as they pushed the kick and snare up front for more of a modern (in the 80s) sound along with making it prime sampling material. It was a pretty smart move.
