Waitng for a new Nirvana?, Productive or Pointless

Is it pointless to be waiting for a new Nirvana to take us out of this abyss? I myself is ambivalent about this becuz there's a lot good music out there that is being ignored by lazy people who don't listen to any music outside of what's being offered by Top 40 radio, that's their loss not mine. But at the same time I do believe that bands like Super Furry Animals and Mum should be exposed to a wider audience. Another thing is that Clear Channel's dominance in radio broadcasting makes it impossible for a new Nirvana to appear on the scene.

Something will come along, but it won't resemble Nirvana's appearance in 1991. I don't know yet who or what it will be, but the music market's primed for some kind of major upset.

And I don't have any problem with Top 40 radio. Some people just don't care as much about music as others do. Top 40 is for them. They go to a store in the mall and buy their new Celine Dion cd because they honestly don't want to hear anything "challenging". They just want to relax with something playing in the background. No problem.

Clear Channel's monopoly is another issue altogether, though...which would give me a headache if I started ranting about it.

I can just hear him covering that Beat Happening song and I get the fear. An obviously better choice would have been the Eugenius version.
