Included everything from the Don't Stop EP all the way up through Cyberpunk, ignored everything after. Sort of bummed that "Pumping on Steel" from Charmed Life was never a single, but I wasn't gonna make an all-inclusive discography poll just to vote for it.

steve stevens is beyond underrated

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Thursday, 1 January 2009 09:18 (sixteen years ago)

I honestly have no idea where my vote's going to go yet, btw.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 1 January 2009 09:18 (sixteen years ago)

Surprising how late in the list he peaks: "To Be a Lover."

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Thursday, 1 January 2009 09:22 (sixteen years ago)

steve stevens is beyond underrated

I remember owning that first Atomic Playboys album and that there were a few wow moments on it, but I have no recollection of ANY of the actual songs.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 1 January 2009 09:33 (sixteen years ago)

steve stevens is an ace guitar player, riffmaker and bro... not perhaps a songwriter for the ages

speaking of which, everything up on that list through "Catch My Fall" is gold

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Thursday, 1 January 2009 16:02 (sixteen years ago)

The first eight were considerably better than the rest. Voted "Eyes Without a Face"

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 1 January 2009 16:02 (sixteen years ago)

i'd say the first 9 -- "to be a lover" is great. but i'd have to be feeling contrarian to not vote "white wedding".

should also take a second to appreciate his reliably awesome videos.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 1 January 2009 16:11 (sixteen years ago)

Shame Blue Highway was never a single.

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Thursday, 1 January 2009 17:03 (sixteen years ago)

"walk with electroglide"

Rob Liberace (M@tt He1ges0n), Thursday, 1 January 2009 17:22 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, most of these tunes are great, but went for "Sweet Sixteen," cuz it's surprisingly sweet.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 1 January 2009 17:23 (sixteen years ago)

To Be a Lover...

Sweet Sixteen...

Don't Need a Gun...

I'm being drawn in the direction of all these Whiplash Smile singles now after re-listening to them.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 1 January 2009 21:03 (sixteen years ago)

i wanna be 16 again and listen to his greatest hits cd i bought in 1989

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 1 January 2009 21:05 (sixteen years ago)

white wedding ftw

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 1 January 2009 21:05 (sixteen years ago)

^ditto

Dimension 5ive, Thursday, 1 January 2009 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

oh wait i actually voted for 'rebel yell'

Dimension 5ive, Thursday, 1 January 2009 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

I still can't dissociate "Rebel Yell" from its complete overexposure ca. 1984-85, and its use in at least 50% of all movies made during those two years (or so it seems).

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 1 January 2009 21:23 (sixteen years ago)

Tie for me between "Flesh for Fantasy" and "Cradle of Love."

^likes tilt-a-whirls (Pancakes Hackman), Thursday, 1 January 2009 23:46 (sixteen years ago)

anyone wanna vouch for Whiplash Smile as an album? Maybe Billy has deep album tracks I know nothing about.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 2 January 2009 02:48 (sixteen years ago)

There's only a couple of good songs on Whiplash Smile - and they're the singles. Rebel Yell has all the deep cuts.

redmond, Friday, 2 January 2009 02:49 (sixteen years ago)

Probably no one will vote for Catch My Fall

With Oatmeal Sauce (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Friday, 2 January 2009 03:08 (sixteen years ago)

And yeah, I totally agree Steve Stevens is an underrated guitar player. Absolutely.

With Oatmeal Sauce (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Friday, 2 January 2009 03:10 (sixteen years ago)

Hot (Child) In the City

xhuxk, Friday, 2 January 2009 03:16 (sixteen years ago)

Catch My Fall is definitely one of the deep cuts.

redmond, Friday, 2 January 2009 03:35 (sixteen years ago)

this is hard, dude was such a choice singles artist...i could vote "Dancing With Myself" for pure consistent enjoyment, "Eyes Without A Face" for songwriting, "Shock To The System" for lols, or "Rebel Yell" because i have tons of good memories of playing it with an old band. s-dude must contemplate.

some dude, Friday, 2 January 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

Amazing how many of those songs I always liked, since how I always considered the singer a buffoonish asshole whom I could barely look at, altho his voice was agreeable enough.

I vote for "Flesh For Fantasy". (Contradictorally, I prefer the video version to the one on the album.)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Friday, 2 January 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

I always considered the singer a buffoonish asshole

Hey now! afaik dude's always been pretty self-aware when he's not in character.

Plus, come on...

I love him so much.
I had a best friend in high school who was a mega, mega Billy Idol fan.

"To Be A Lover" gets my vote.

With Oatmeal Sauce (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Saturday, 3 January 2009 15:49 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Saturday, 10 January 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

the ballads are all shockers for me.

this is so obviously a play off between 'rebel yell' and 'white wedding' it's not funny.

Charlie Howard, Saturday, 10 January 2009 02:51 (sixteen years ago)

Shame Blue Highway was never a single.

OTM. Should (Would?) win this poll.

in my school they used to always yell hey hey what get laid get fucked during mony mony

The Desus & Mero Chain (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 23 March 2018 01:34 (seven years ago)

I went to private school yet no one yelled that

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 23 March 2018 02:24 (seven years ago)

Great bit of trivia about Tommy James being the first (only?) artist to score back-to-back US #1s via cover versions. That was definitely around the same time that I remember my mom complaining that every other song that came out anymore was a remake.

Dangleballs and the Ballerina (cryptosicko), Friday, 23 March 2018 03:55 (seven years ago)

Mony Mony so bad, Les Yeux sans Visage so good

Cambridge Metallica (Noodle Vague), Friday, 23 March 2018 08:26 (seven years ago)

"Cradle of Love" 0

typical ILM

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Friday, 23 March 2018 10:58 (seven years ago)

the name of the track escapes me but Beach House totally ripped off Eyes Without A Face for a single a few albums back...
