crazy>circulate>>>>>>>17.5

first two are stone cold classics btw

The Reverend, Friday, 2 January 2009 09:16 (sixteen years ago)

never really got the big deal about "Go Crazy" but "Circulate" is awesome.

some dude, Friday, 2 January 2009 14:06 (sixteen years ago)

go crazy makes big hoos go crazy

HOOSytime steenman (BIG HOOS aka the steendriver), Friday, 2 January 2009 15:19 (sixteen years ago)

17.5 is underrated but i think it's circulate>go crazy>>17.5

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:18 (sixteen years ago)

i always forget which one is "Mr. 17.5" because I hated most of The Inspiration (and for some reason it's mislabelled as "Mr. 15" in my iTunes), but yeah this song bangs.

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:21 (sixteen years ago)

and for some reason it's mislabelled as "Mr. 15" in my iTunes

this one is an r. kelly feature

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:23 (sixteen years ago)

btw i was gonna do a don cannon productions poll but i figured "go crazy" and "circulate" would dominate so i just narrowed it down to jeezy

my fav non jeezy canon productions are the pusha t feature on fab's last album and that wayne song on dedication 2 that ended up on the dj drama cd

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:24 (sixteen years ago)

another thing - i've never actually heard the "go crazy" remix with fat joe - does this thing actually exist? the only one i have has the jay verse

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:25 (sixteen years ago)

that wayne song on dedication 2 that ended up on the dj drama cd

"Cannon"? the original song was Drama f/ T.I. and Busta, then Wayne and all sorts of other people jumped on it, then it ended up as that version on the Gangsta Grillz album.

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:29 (sixteen years ago)

the deal w/ "Go Crazy" was that the remix was done at the last second when the album was being pressed (i.e. Jay realizing way after everyone else that Jeezy was Def Jam's next breadwinner and rushing in to give him the co-sign), so the first few hundred thousand copies didn't have the remix, then the next batch had the version w/ Jay and Fat Joe. then eventually a version of the mix w/ no Fat Joe blew up on radio and I think was on later pressings. the Fat Joe verse is pretty dope, it's a shame it's been swept under the rug to the point that i can't even find it on YouTube right now.

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:32 (sixteen years ago)

oh - one of my favorite post-carter verses from wayne

Bullets like birds you can hear them bitches hummin,
Don't let that bird shit, he got a weak stomach.
Niggaz know I'm sick I don't spit I vomit,
Got it?
One egg short of the omelet.
Simon says, shoot a nigga in his thigh and leg,
Then tell him catch up like mayonnaise, um.
I'm the sickest nigga doin it,
Bet that baby.

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:33 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, the one I have is the Jeezy/Jay version.

The Reverend, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:33 (sixteen years ago)

hmm interesting

yeah whenever i look for the one with the fat joe remix i end up sitting through an mp3 or youtube that says it's 6:15 long but is just the jay remix

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:34 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that verse is dope. "Cannon" is definitely a minor classic, Drama should've just made it the single from his album instead of that Nelly shit.

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:35 (sixteen years ago)

also i loved this freeway/wayne song - even in the pantheon of random wayne verses that no one ends up hearing i remember thinking that this one was especially dope. i guess after hearing free's second album this one would seem out of place but i was sad that it got left off the tracklist

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:36 (sixteen years ago)

also another lol pat summerall sample from cannon

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

oh yeah i almost forgot about that song...shame it got dropped from Free At Last, shoulda replaced "Lights Get Low".

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:39 (sixteen years ago)

classic lol misunderstanding thread here: Why Do I Keep Hearing "Gannon" in Rap Songs Lately?

also includes ethan talking about cannon playing the "go crazy" rmx with fat joe in the club btw

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:40 (sixteen years ago)

incidentally does anyone else think the "CANNON" voice sounds like Principal Skinner? that's who i picture saying it every single time.

some dude, Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:42 (sixteen years ago)

i always associated it w/ pat summerall cuz i recognized it instantly http://cache.deadspin.com/assets/resources/2008/03/summeralll.jpg

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:43 (sixteen years ago)

it does sound like skinner tho good call

jordan s (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 3 January 2009 05:44 (sixteen years ago)

I've been reading Frantz Fanon's Wretched of the Earthand everytime I pick up the book I hear FANON in the "Cannon" voice in my head.

some people wait a lifetime for a momus like this (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 26 May 2009 10:11 (sixteen years ago)

come to think of it, i liked this album a lot when it came out but if if "still on it" or "you know what it is" or "i'm the realest" were on a new jeezy tape i'd have no idea they were old songs

some people wait a lifetime for a momus like this (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 26 May 2009 10:12 (sixteen years ago)

at this point i think Freeway/Cannon might be a more potent combo, the songs he did for Month Of Madness are some of my favorite rap tunes of the past year.
