Anyone else heard this? Man on The Moon and the song that sample Band Of Horses sounded awkward at first, but now they might be my favorite hip hop tracks of the year.

You remember what we were saying about building up a little steam with your sockpuppets before you go all out with a troll thread? This is fucking 101 right here.
― The boy with the Arab money (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Sunday, 4 January 2009 00:26 (sixteen years ago)
It's from a while ago, definitely 2008. A few tight songs but something about it ultimately sucks.
― Whitey on the Moon, Sunday, 4 January 2009 01:11 (sixteen years ago)
This counts as a troll thread? Sorry, I'm not understanding. And yes, it came out in 2008.

a- a- a- a- a- at nite
― lex pretend, Sunday, 4 January 2009 10:01 (sixteen years ago)
that track was everywhere this year but i didn't even realise what it was until december. obv kid cudi sucks though.
all i know is that song that lex is 'singing' and i think its the shit and wish the crookers remix had a little more tlc, schitt is way sloppy
― choom gangsta (deej), Sunday, 4 January 2009 10:05 (sixteen years ago)
it's the crookers rmx i'm 'singing' and it sounds like every other crookers rmx ever

ive grown to love the crookers rmx but i kinda wish it built up to something - i guess that's the point though
― jordan s (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 4 January 2009 17:15 (sixteen years ago)
the og "day n nite" is pretty good too but it sounds tedious next to the rmx
I don't hate the remix, but prefer the OG by a good margin.

banging but pointless
― opinions4usic (deej), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 03:04 (sixteen years ago)
the melody is what makes that song -- would have made a great dance remix if crookers knew wtf they were doing -- instead its all over the place
― opinions4usic (deej), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 03:05 (sixteen years ago)
ok finally listening to this song i keep hearing about...????...even 808s & Heartbreak is better than this
i might have to make a poll about which name is worse, "Crookers" or "Kid Cudi"
― some dude, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 03:08 (sixteen years ago)
its way better than anything on 808s and heartbreak -- memorable melody
― opinions4usic (deej), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 03:19 (sixteen years ago)
yeah but it's got the same kind of monotonous baby's-first-melody shit going on as most other singin' rapper songs...shit makes me yearn for the days when 50 and Andre were the most shameless half-assed singers in hip hop.

just heard "day n nite" for the first time today :(
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 6 May 2009 20:37 (sixteen years ago)
i like "day n nite." it sounds like early phil collins, or some other early '80s new wave noir.

granted there's no actual rapping on day n nite
― triple-hater protection (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 7 May 2009 06:10 (sixteen years ago)
i wonder if he actually can rap - im gonna investigate
http://www.getoutdoors.com/goblog/uploads/sleuth.jpg
this mixtape is okay i guess - like dem franchize boyz or something i appreciate cudi more for his songs than his raps but he's about 1/100th as interesting
― triple-hater protection (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 7 May 2009 06:16 (sixteen years ago)
he's not much of an mc, but in the same way the italians do it better stable aren't much on singing. i think cudi almost has as much in common with them as with any particular kind of hip-hop. could totally hear him on a glass candy track.

i dunno dude -- i'm 808s hater #1 but i'll give some songs their props including "Welcome To Heartbreak." "Day N Nite" is annoying to me in part for the same reason I hate "If I Were A Boy" or that new Green Day single, just the total unchanging monotony of the melody from verse to chorus to verse makes for shitty radio songs.
― shipforbrains (some dude), Thursday, 7 May 2009 12:59 (sixteen years ago)
nah, that's part of the appeal, the insta-hypnosis you get when you hear it. i mean, it's a stoner beat, says so right there in the chorus.
i like it plenty, but i'm sorta glad i left the states before i heard it 12,000 too many times, it WAS sorta on the radio every 15 minutes or so when i left. i figure that's probably the real, underlying reason for the ilm hate on this song - it's really a cool little track that just sorta earwormed it's way into heavy rotation
― messiahwannabe, Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:47 (sixteen years ago)
nah it's cause ilx is anti-stoner
― hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:50 (sixteen years ago)
except for the anti-anti contengent
― messiahwannabe, Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:53 (sixteen years ago)
"you hate this because it's popular and on the radio a lot" is a weak argument unless you someone actually hates every hit song ever
― unban cowboy (some dude), Thursday, 7 May 2009 14:56 (sixteen years ago)
well i mean i'm willing to admit it might not really stand up to a zillion replays as well as, say, a classic beyonce track or beatles track or something. but since i haven't been forced to overhear it yet i still have some fondness for it
― messiahwannabe, Thursday, 7 May 2009 15:05 (sixteen years ago)
yeah...i didn't like it on first listen but i could see it being better before the repetition sets in.
― unban cowboy (some dude), Thursday, 7 May 2009 15:07 (sixteen years ago)
having just done one of my periodic listening-to-every-song-on-the-top-40 sweeps gave me added appreciation for the track, because it really doesn't sound like anything else on the chart. that's not an inherent virtue, but it did sorta stand out.
― would you ask tom petty that? (tipsy mothra), Thursday, 7 May 2009 15:26 (sixteen years ago)
(and granted, being better than "hoedown throwdown" and "boom boom pow" is not much of an achievement.)
