Who is he?

I'm not familiar with the Avalanches, but I can offer this (possibly useless, certainly arcane) piece of information. In old issues of After Dark, the now-defunct "magazine of entertainment" (right, Arthur?), a men's clothing boutique in New York would advertise, and its name was Bobby Dazzler. Don't ask me why I remember this.

Bobby "The Dazzler" George was a darts star of the 80s... maybe not.

Nah its obviously Bobby 'Dazzler' Mitchell who played on the wing for Newcastle United in their great cup winning side in the '50s.

bobbydazzler = robbie + darren = production team, the guys who put the lion's share of the album together.

...does anyone know where the phrase bobby-dazzler came from? it's cockney rhyming(?) slang that means 'really good, amazing thing or person'... but what does it rhyme with? or if not rhyming slang, where are its origins?

Apparently Bobby Dazzler is a piece of classic Australian Television, check it.
