I love Miles Davis. Favorites are Bitches Brew and Kind of Blue; what else would be at their caliber?

I'm not a total Miles expert or anything, but my faves are Sketches of Spain, In a Silent Way, On the Corner, and A Tribute to Jack Johnson.

Sketches is good, I heard a lot of good from On the Corner; I'll check that one out, thanks, man.

In a Silent Way.

if you're looking for non-electric stuff that predates "kind of blue" you pretty much can't go wrong with anything on prestige: "workin", "relaxin", "steamin", "cookin", "miles davis and the modern jazz giants", "bags' groove", etc
i think my favorite period of miles is the non-electric stuff that comes right before "in a silent way" and "bitches brew"; post-bop that was so spaced-out and cerebral that he had to go electric to get any weirder. particularly like "miles smiles", "ESP" and "nefertiti".

I'm a big fan of Miles albums (although only a mild fan of Miles' playing).
My intro was the '58 sessions comp, which holds up very very very well! The precursor to Kind of Blue.

I own 51 Miles albums; not all of them, and not enough. I still haven't gotten to the bottom of the ones I have, and I also don't expect to stop buying.

I got that recently issued Miles at Monterey set (from 63 or 64?) last month. Had held off buying it because I have at least four other live albums from that era/band. But guess what? It is fucking amazing. A great, great set. Maybe the best live album from that period! And I'm including "My Funny Valentine" here!
