This one really does seem impossible for me. I'll have to thing about Dead Boys, Richard Hell, Pretenders, Flamin' Groovies for a while.

"Back on the Chain Gang" brings tears to my eyes, but the others work me up in different ways. And those are just my personal top 4 from that list.

james k polk, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 01:53 (sixteen years ago)

lol @ Tommy Page being in the middle of all this.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 02:00 (sixteen years ago)

Also, THIS IS HARD

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 02:01 (sixteen years ago)

I know it's just a comp and all but Just Say Sire is such a lame-ass name for anything

Help! We Have Strange Powers! (latebloomer), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 04:29 (sixteen years ago)

voted white horse. it's got a great beat.

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 06:39 (sixteen years ago)

Ramones narrowly over Pretenders. Good stuff--I still have this around, I should put it on sometime.

Matos W.K., Wednesday, 7 January 2009 07:38 (sixteen years ago)

It's hard not to vote the Blitzkrieg Bop.

Still, "Jesus hotrod" whoa...

Mark G, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 09:18 (sixteen years ago)

What's the vids on the DVD? Or is that the next poll?

Mark G, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 09:23 (sixteen years ago)

"Shake Some Action"

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 12:45 (sixteen years ago)

This was tough, until I saw Track 15. Shake Some Action is better than 99.99% of all songs.

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 15:37 (sixteen years ago)

Ain't no loser.

Myonga Vön Bontee, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 16:15 (sixteen years ago)

I am damn unsatisfied to be killed in this way. (latebloomer), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 16:55 (sixteen years ago)

So much choices. Blitxkrieg Bob, Sonic Reducer, Chain Gang, Burning Down the House. Aloha Steve & Danno for the gtr solos. But Shake Some Action is from another planet. Happy to agree with Geir on this one.

Calling All Creeps! (contenderizer), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 17:08 (sixteen years ago)

Wow. For me, it's Alex Chilton v. Back on the Chain Gang.

kate78, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 17:23 (sixteen years ago)

"Alex Chilton" too good to ignore here.

ilxor, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

For me, it's Alex Chilton v. Back on the Chain Gang.

Exactly, although I personally love "Counting Backwards." I will be quite happy if "Burning Down the House" doesn't win. (It probably should, shouldn't it?)

mitya, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 17:50 (sixteen years ago)

"Counting Backwards" vs "Back on the Chain Gang."

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 17:51 (sixteen years ago)

oh, the Just Say comps, duh.

lol yup... I know I had these... after that it gets fuzzy

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 18:45 (sixteen years ago)

have we polled the original discs already?

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 18:46 (sixteen years ago)

if not, we should.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 18:53 (sixteen years ago)

I feel like a Challenging Opinion Superhero voting for Westerberg here, but I have such a soft spot for that song.

nabisco, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 18:56 (sixteen years ago)

What, no Ofra Haza, Danielle Dax or Figures on a Beach? And this is supposed to be a Sire comp..

Pain don't hurt. (Pillbox), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 19:02 (sixteen years ago)

accidents will happen, accidents will happen, don't you dare to ask me how

butt-rock miyagi (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 7 January 2009 19:26 (sixteen years ago)

Much as I love 'Alex Chilton' it's got to be the Flamin' Groovies.

Gavin in Leeds, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 19:28 (sixteen years ago)

I voted for "Give Back The Key To My Heart", because I loved Uncle Tupelo so much: the violin on that track is so good, as is Doug Sahm's vocal.

Euler, Wednesday, 7 January 2009 19:30 (sixteen years ago)

I was looking for Pagans Cadaver videos for the Coulter thread when I ran into this Dead Boys.

james k polk, Friday, 9 January 2009 01:12 (sixteen years ago)

Weird, Shake Some Action & Slow Death are 2 all-time fave tunes but I know absolutely nothing about the Flamin' Groovies. Music geek blind spot.

that's not my post, Friday, 9 January 2009 05:38 (sixteen years ago)

If only "The Wagon" was the original 7" version ...

zaxxon25, Friday, 9 January 2009 13:27 (sixteen years ago)

"Shake Some Action"

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Tom D.), Friday, 9 January 2009 13:29 (sixteen years ago)

It's gotta be Chain Gang. Great comp, great songs but that's the one that's working for me at the moment. It's all about the song!

elgolfo, Friday, 9 January 2009 17:00 (sixteen years ago)

finally decided on "Burning Down The House."

Bee OK, Saturday, 10 January 2009 03:15 (sixteen years ago)

I have an inkling that Shake is going to take this. It's a monster-that-never-gets-old type jam. Not that Chain Gang isn't. My gut went with Shake though, because it truly, truly, truly makes everyone Shake Action when it goes on at a powerpop dance party. And girls in leather jackets shaking...gets my vote every time.

okamax, Saturday, 10 January 2009 03:25 (sixteen years ago)

Voted Birdman, just to make sure someone did, but there's lots of good here. I'd be happy if someone played this straight through at a party, which is mighty unusual for such a mixed bag of a comp.

dad a, Saturday, 10 January 2009 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

"World Class Fad" will win, judging by the way these polls usually go.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 10 January 2009 03:38 (sixteen years ago)

^ insanity

Calling All Creeps! (contenderizer), Saturday, 10 January 2009 07:26 (sixteen years ago)

Just want to rep for Book of Love real quick, even though I didn't vote for them. Turned onto them in high school by my friend Natalie, who later died in a car accident. Hearing them is bittersweet.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 10 January 2009 07:29 (sixteen years ago)

Where's Madonna?

billstevejim, Saturday, 10 January 2009 07:36 (sixteen years ago)
