FANTASY UFO: RFI

How many people have heard these guys? I'm currently listening to "Feed The World" (Cut The Red Tape mix) and wondering why they aren't household names, what with their radio-friendly mix of breakbeat harcore and lovely samples. If I had a radio show, I'd be bumpin' this like crazy.

Can anyone tell me who was behind Fantasy UFO and what happened to them?

dan, are you talking about the 91 era Fantasy UFO? possibly on outer rhythm? if so, i believe their biggest record (cant remember the title) may have come between the period when britrave was looking to belgium/mentasm and when it went 100% breakbeat. the single wasn't huge if i remember correctly, but i wouldn't necessarily know (wasn't quite old enough for raves then)

it was mark ryder wasn't it. he still makes crazy 2 step for his strictly underground label.

Gareth: I'm pretty certain we're talking about the same group. I know they had a track on the first XL comp which was very Belgian- hoover-sounding, but when I got into them they'd already made the shift over to breakbeat mania (ie, the _Kaos Theory 2_ comp which contains their superlative remix of M D Emm's "Move Your Feet" and the aforementioned "Feed The World").

stirmonster: Mark Ryder? I've seen that name before, I think... At any rate, THANK YOU.

yea dan its the same one. i thought m d emm was mark ryder too?

did a route through my old rave records and found another fantasy ufo record - 'mind body and soul' on strictly underground from '91 - still sounds mighty fine.

Dan, where did you pick up/download the single from? All this chat about Fantasy UFO has whet my appetite. Funny that, since I've only truly gotten into dance music in my old age;>
