Oh I loved 'Marble Madness'.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=G54MllM2Gx8
The song I liked the best from this one is the 4th level one, the 'moon' level. Unfortunately in youtube I can only find this video which goes through the first 2 levels.

I can easily picture that 'flashback' and 'castlevania' intros remixed by some sort of electro french artist.

K I recorded the space level from shooting range I mentioned upthread, unfortunately sound got glitchy but you can get an idea of what it sounds like. Sort of a Kraftwerk reminiscence

is outrun the one where you can see Vegas on the horizon at night... I've been trying to remember what old racing game that was. (and I think it was Vegas)
oh yeah - contraband (or megaman band or whatever other names they call themselves) was great to see them play along as someone just about flawlessly beat megaman 2 while sitting onstage playing an actual NES system. Athens FTW. I like how they played along to the powerup screens and stage selection screen as well. also, seeing dr. wiley beat brings back good memories I suppose.

Manic Miner, never has Strauss sounded quite like this...
The in-game In the Hall of the Mountain King is actually quite fun.

Xenon 2 and any other Bitmap Bros selections otm (fond memories of John Foxx - yes, that John Foxx - with the theme tune for Gods too, but that's 90s - but if early 90s stuff is allowed then the first Monkey Island game too please).
I hope to come back with some proper oldschool stuff later, but us 48k Spectrum owners were a bit deprived musically, and by the time the 128k Spectrum with improved sound chip came along publishers seemed to be used to not really bothering over the music for the Speccy version.

couple of personal faves:
IK+ (Amiga)
Gemini Wing (Arcade) - each of the 7 levels had it's own theme ala R-Type

smnaotrt (1 week ago) Show Hide0 Poor comment Good commentMarked as spamReply | Spamyea this was great and like many other people mentioned about beating the game to listen to this. It was also one of the only games where I actually enjoyed having a credit screen. lol yea and for some reason hearing this song gives me somewhat of an empty/sad feeling. Probably because the game was just beaten and it brings back some memories

This is actually from 1995 but I have to post because I loved the dkc soundtracks. I was 10 back then, it doesnt seem to me like it was that long ago.

xp I have a ton of MP3s of techno and metal interpretations of Castlevania songs, so there probably is a French electronica mix out there somewhere.

Sorry chap, didn't see you'd already posted Monkey Island as I can't view embeds at work.
More early 90s Amiga-goes-ravey business, from Team 17's Project-X:
That NES Shooting Range space level is the most IDM thing I've heard this week! Spookily quasi-random arpeggios and disorienting tempo shifts all over the place. Awesome.
Is nobody posting Bubble Bobble because it's taken them 20 years to get the music out of their head and they don't want it back?
(Puzzle Bobble also catchy as hell, but too late for this thread. Here it is anyway.)
