Sub-question: guitarists wearing ammo belts -- classic or dud?
― Andy K, Thursday, 6 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
"The guitar solo is really brought to life by the expressions on Andy Taylor's face. However, the expressions made in that one Belinda Carlisle video are even more demonstrative."

I fear that hordes of Andy Taylor fans will unleash their wrath upon me once this thread hits Google.
So ehem yeah... Isn't there some wicked wammy bar action on that solo?

Um, looks like you're pretty safe.

I heard this version before I heard the T. Rex version.

^this and "Venus" and "Hazy Shade of Winter" and "I Think We're Alone Now" and even "Walk This Way"
I had heard the original "Rock On" before, though.

I didn't know until a few months ago that it's Taylor playing the solo on Belinda's "Mad About You."

Isn't there a remix of the PS "G.I.O" with an extended version of breakdown at the climax (that choppy rhythm guitar part)? I swear I'd heard one.

It sure is something!

The Power Station is the loudest album ever released
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 4 April 2018 02:28 (seven years ago)
The guitar solo in Power Station's cover of "Get it On"
...is pretty shit. Wow, Andy knows a scale. Now play it 3x.
Maybe DaveQ was referring to the pre-solo 80s-style whammy theatrics?

Listening to “Some Like It Hot” and “Get It On” is like being in RFK Stadium as the Soviets strafe the joint.
But I thought you hated these songs, ALS.

This album is pretty damn good apart from this cover! It’s got moxie.

I love this album, primarily because someone said to Tony Thompson "yeah, do whatever you want" and his work is some of my favorite drumming on any record, still very capable of hanging back and holding it down but also just savagely loud and tight and aggressive, can see why zeppelin earmarked him to replace Bonham
also Palmer is phenomenal and kind of scored a second career off this sound, the Duran Duran guys aren't half bad either
Have read that initially the idea was to have a number of vocalists but Palmer impressed them so much that they went all in on him, which is cool but considering he left immediately afterwards, might have been cooler and a better record to try a funky Alan Parsons project
