wow, tough.

Women can be captains too, you know? (jim), Friday, 16 January 2009 23:31 (seventeen years ago)

End to end, a dull list; individually, the songs are supple and warm, the chronicles of a moderately smart woman whose voice has drunk its fill of pain, but whose melodies evince her commitment to pleasure and getting hurt all over again.

I picked "Think About Me."

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 16 January 2009 23:35 (seventeen years ago)

over my head or hold me, can't choose.

ian, Friday, 16 January 2009 23:42 (seventeen years ago)

It is so hard to choose between Hold Me, Everywhere and Think About Me.

Plaxico (I know, right?), Friday, 16 January 2009 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

Those three plus "You Make Loving Fun" for me.

Tim F, Saturday, 17 January 2009 00:57 (seventeen years ago)

I suppose someone should vouch for "Little Lies" and "Love in Store" tool

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 17 January 2009 00:58 (seventeen years ago)

was only ever gonna be 'hold me', but 'think about me' put in a damn good fight

Cooking From A Stovetop (electricsound), Saturday, 17 January 2009 01:01 (seventeen years ago)

This list really highlights the greatness of the McVie album tracks on Tusk by dint of their seeming glaring absence.

Tim F, Saturday, 17 January 2009 01:02 (seventeen years ago)

Greatest couplet ever: "I don't hold you down/maybe that's why you're around..."

Tim F, Saturday, 17 January 2009 01:02 (seventeen years ago)

Tough, but 'Say You Love Me.' This song gives me chills.

calstars, Saturday, 17 January 2009 03:27 (seventeen years ago)

Ha, how terrible is it that I'm considering "As Long As You Follow"?

Sundar, Saturday, 17 January 2009 04:12 (seventeen years ago)

Damnit, Tim F.! I KNEW something was terribly wrong with this poll, but couldn't put a finger on it. Thanks!

gods jangle the key change (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Saturday, 17 January 2009 04:19 (seventeen years ago)

And yeah, if you like McVie and haven't heard the Mac's "Heroes Are Hard To Find", I suggest you jump on that album right now.

gods jangle the key change (Bimble Is Still More Goth Than You), Saturday, 17 January 2009 04:22 (seventeen years ago)

It's too bad "Come a little bit closer" wasn't a single

WARS OF ARMAGEDDON (Karaoke Version) (Sparkle Motion), Saturday, 17 January 2009 07:16 (seventeen years ago)

It's not a single I guess, but "Show Me a Smile" from Future Games has a melody that I can never remember when it isn't on, but that I want to here over and over again when it is on.

james k polk, Saturday, 17 January 2009 07:29 (seventeen years ago)

hear over and over. here.

james k polk, Saturday, 17 January 2009 07:29 (seventeen years ago)

"hold me" now and forever

armatrader joan's (donna rouge), Saturday, 17 January 2009 08:34 (seventeen years ago)

"Think About Me," even (or especially!) the sped-up and remixed 45 version.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 17 January 2009 11:03 (seventeen years ago)

"You Make Loving Fun" is my favorite of these singles. Probably I'd vote for "Little Lies" next just because of the Nicks vocal hook.

Euler, Saturday, 17 January 2009 15:22 (seventeen years ago)

I went for "little lies". It's funny how much mid-80s MOR I remember simply from being driven to school by my mom or dad with the radio on every day back when I was in my single digits age-wise. For some reason, the school bus only came to my neighborhood on the trip home.

Shh! It's NOT Me!, Saturday, 17 January 2009 17:40 (seventeen years ago)

"Love In Store" may be the most underrated out of all of these.

(*゚ー゚)θ L(。・_・) °~ヾ(・ε・ *) (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 21 January 2009 22:07 (seventeen years ago)

"songbird"

torn btween hold me and over my head

now is the time to winterize your manscape (will), Wednesday, 21 January 2009 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

I voted "You Make Loving Fun," though am already regretting because I think I love "Say You Love Me" the most. She's my favorite songwriter and vocalist out of the three.

Joe, Thursday, 22 January 2009 00:06 (seventeen years ago)

even though she takes up the lion's share of my top 10 mac tracks, i find it hard to say she's my favourite because of how much of a dive her lyrics took after (and kinda during) mirage. 'little lies' is a tremendous tune but the lyrics are fucking ridiculous compared to 'think about me' or 'you make loving fun'

Cooking From A Stovetop (electricsound), Thursday, 22 January 2009 00:10 (seventeen years ago)

As much as I love Christine's songs, I find myself liking them not because of her but from what the rest of the band is doing (McVie/Fleetwood's tremendous bass/drums on "You Make Loving Fun," Nicks' backing vox on "Little Lies," Buckingham's production everywhere)

Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Thursday, 22 January 2009 01:55 (seventeen years ago)

OTM. Tim F will bite my head off, but "Only Over You" is embarrassing.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:07 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not a massive fan of "Only Over You" (perhaps I had a short crush if I said anything contrary previously), i just don't dislike it as much as you Alfred.

Surely the lyrics to "Little Lies" are better than "Welcome To The Room... Sara".

Tim F, Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:11 (seventeen years ago)

Real talk

(*゚ー゚)θ L(。・_・) °~ヾ(・ε・ *) (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:13 (seventeen years ago)

don't get me wrong, it's not like stevie has never written lyrical turkeys..

Cooking From A Stovetop (electricsound), Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:23 (seventeen years ago)

The Yazoo-Only You rip in the outro of 'Little Lies' has always bugged me.

redmond, Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:26 (seventeen years ago)

I have NO problems with "Little Lies." That's a perfect single.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:26 (seventeen years ago)

Except the outro is a bit of a rip of a fairly well known song.

redmond, Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:27 (seventeen years ago)

More power to them!

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 22 January 2009 02:27 (seventeen years ago)

don't get me wrong, it's not like stevie has never written lyrical turkeys sounded like a turkey..

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 24 May 2024 01:31 (one year ago)

lol, zero memory of creating this poll, but after 15 years of deliberation I think "You Make Loving Fun" really is as good as it gets.

Lindsey's *perfect* descending pentatonic figures in the choruses counterpointing against Christine's ascending melody are the heart of 70s FMac... in particular Rumours.

Mrs. Ippei (Steve Shasta), Friday, 24 May 2024 03:55 (one year ago)

“You make me fun” is incredible because the chorus only happens once and then the song ends but it sure doesn’t seem like it, that chorus seems to lasts an eternity
