if there is already a thread for (nearly) forgotten guitar rock indie undie or otherwise then delete this one.

(reminded of that thread where everyone listed their fave totally unjustly forgotten 90's albums and this is a chance to post vids or whatever from them.)

starting with the NUMBER ONE INFLUENCE ON LATE 20TH & EARLY 21ST CENTURY PHILADELPHIA INDIE ROCKERS (i'm totally not making that up)

Rollerskate Skinny - speed to my side

thee hypnotics - shakedown

scott seward, Saturday, 17 January 2009 23:47 (seventeen years ago)

see, i have to post that thee hypnotics track cuz it's on one of my fave rock & roll records of the last, like, 30 years - Soul, Glitter, & Sin - and not a lot of people have heard it.

scott seward, Saturday, 17 January 2009 23:48 (seventeen years ago)

dead c - sky (live on t.v.)

(okay, not forgotten or anything, but how often do you see dead c t.v. show footage?)

(really, post whatever you want. what do i care. i've got the weekend free!)

scott seward, Saturday, 17 January 2009 23:58 (seventeen years ago)

Tiamet - Cold Seed

(sure, nirvana had cheerleaders, but they didn't have cheerleaders AND an elephant.)

scott seward, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

Katatonia - saw you drown

(okay, they are totally not forgotten, and this isn't even a real video, but i always want to make new converts. my favorite band of the 90's next to red house painters, eyehategod, masters of reality, and denim.)

scott seward, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:15 (seventeen years ago)

I lurve Soul, Glitter and Sin too! I love guitar rock with good horn charts. Like the Saints' Eternally Yours. For years, you could always find Soul Glitter and Sin in the $2 bin. I can't be believe so many people picked that up and then let it go.

My Dad Is Dead - nothing special (live)

Chrome Cranks

bendy, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

Not finding the Gallon Drunk "Some Fools Mess" video. Doesn't anyone have it lying around on a free sampler VHS from 1992? Anyone who cares.

bendy, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:25 (seventeen years ago)

that chrome cranks is dope

The 3Ds - outer space

scott seward, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:33 (seventeen years ago)

Gas Huffer blew away Mudhoney when I saw 'em at the Channel around 1992. Superchunk opened.

bendy, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:34 (seventeen years ago)

Ha, this will be a v. v. good thread. (Hey I knew about Soul Glitter and Sin!)

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:35 (seventeen years ago)

Still consider myself I got to see the God Machine on their one American tour before Jimmy Fernandez died -- there's a slew of random things on YouTube but this'll do for now:

'consider myself LUCKY' I mean to say.

Bailter Space - x

scott seward, Sunday, 18 January 2009 00:39 (seventeen years ago)

Earwig, who later became Insides and ended up on 4AD and who I think Scott would like and who should have been as big as Stereolab (on a thriving cult audience level at least):

Ha, this will be a v. v. good thread.

And it will have lots of lit-from-beneath sets with Twin Peaks curtains

The only good swing revival band, never quite got it committed to wax effectively, but Bunkley was quite the frontman.

tipsy mothra, Sunday, 18 January 2009 01:59 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe not obscure enough for this thread, but I haven't thought about this song for at least ten years (I don't know why it popped into my head, of all things, when I saw this thread): Infectious Grooves - "Violent & Funky"

Pillboxxx/The Lol Belol (Pillbox), Sunday, 18 January 2009 02:00 (seventeen years ago)

Embedding disabled, here's another one:

BELLY - FEED THE TREE^^

gr8080, Monday, 19 January 2009 01:40 (seventeen years ago)

Course of Empire...never heard of them. That song is amazing. Killing Joke meets Adam Ant meets Horton Heat.

bendy, Monday, 19 January 2009 06:19 (seventeen years ago)

I've been periodically checking youTube to see if any Strapping Fieldhands video has appeared. Still waiting...

hologram of balls (gnarly sceptre), Monday, 19 January 2009 10:46 (seventeen years ago)

'saw you drown' is really unsettling in just the right sort of way. particularly when those tortured backing vocals kick in during the latter stages.

Charlie Howard, Monday, 19 January 2009 10:57 (seventeen years ago)

Can't wait to get home and watch this thread! Looks A+, keep it up, etc.

a passing spacecadet, Monday, 19 January 2009 11:33 (seventeen years ago)
