honestly all his albums except 'da game is to be sold' (if im remembering that one right) have a pretty solid ratio of hot tracks

loved this quik joint (/v much in character) off the most recent one, it samples one of my fav isley traxx:

sorry, forgot that you and ethan are the only ones here who have the right to talk about rap. my bad.

Jesus Christ, Attorney at Law (res), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 00:12 (seventeen years ago)

anyway, snoop is kind of a one-trick pony in my book. there is little to no depth to his writing, and he has a tendency to retread subject matter way too much. doggystyle was alright, but the chronic was much better.

Jesus Christ, Attorney at Law (res), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 00:14 (seventeen years ago)

well when yr stated opinion on rap is "rap sucks except for rza in the early 90s" & your contribution to this thread is "lol nobody likes non-doggystyle snoop dogg" ...

cant remember the last non doggy style snoop album i listened to all the way through. think id go with last meal though. had the type of beats id like to hear from snoop. although blue carpet treatment had some really good tracks, just way too many songs. makes a good 10 tracker though.

six months pass...

Blue Carpet Treatment shoulda won this in a walk. smooth beats, focused flow, interesting ideas, with Snoop even dare I say branching out a little. if not for some filler it'd give Doggystyle a close run.

when I was in 9th grade, and Skee-Lo's "I Wish" came out, I thought it was "wish I had a girl, with a phone, I would call her". someone embarassed me online (on a BBS) for that one.

ya know for a guy who spent many years talking about how Snoop has sucked since 1993, I gotta say I was dead RONG, cuz I also got Malice 'n Wonderland today and it's fab. I'll admit I didn't like Tha Last Meal (it still doesn't sit well with me), but I underrated the guy for many years mostly cuz I unfairly thought that he only fit g-funk.

funky brewster (San Te), Sunday, 5 September 2010 21:02 (fifteen years ago)

huh, always thought Snoop's birth name was Calvin Broadus, but apparently it was Cordozar Calvin Broadus.

funky brewster (San Te), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:07 (fifteen years ago)

See, Malice 'n Wonderland was the first one I hadn't bought in a long time, since the miss-to-hit ratio was so high on the previous three.

he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 7 September 2010 03:36 (fifteen years ago)
