Voted "Love In The First Degree" here, which is the best post Jolley/Swain Bananarama single IMO. Also have a soft spot for that Mandy Smith hit.

Anyroad, you know "Roadblock" is gonna win this, right?

Mark G, Thursday, 22 January 2009 10:29 (seventeen years ago)

Really don't remember half of these, but top three for me would be Respectable > NGGYU > I Heard A Rumour. The bad stuff here though is really, really bad!

1. "Love In The First Degree". I was DJ-ing in a gay club, how could I not love this?

2. "Roadblock". Total 1987 Notting Hill Carnival anthem, I shit ye not. Only "Cross The Track" got more plays on the sound systems over the two days.

3. Respectable.
4. I Heard A Rumour.
5. In Love With Love.

Important information on one of those poll options...

Roadblock is incredibly overrated, it doesn't really work as a pop song, or as a club track.

I’d quite liked to vote for ‘Whenever You Need Somebody’ but prefer the O’Chi Brown original – sick bassline and impeccable SAW key changes. ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ is also pretty great, but I think the “tays” have it in the end, so ‘Respectable’ it is.

Give me a break, that must be the first on-topic rickroll ever!
