I have been watching The Filth and The Fury lately and I want some info on Nick Kent. What happened to him after the NME, did he becomes a junky? Is he still alive?

I know I should know, but I do not know anything about rock after PIL released Flowers Of Romance. ;)

He's still alive. He recently got some award or other from the NME.

He moved to Paris and started writing for the music mag Les Inrockuptibles (http://www1.lesinrocks.com/index.cfm). I'm not sure if he still does.

He's so high and unintentionally funny in The Filth and the Fury. Unfortunately his book(The Dark Stuff) is really really boring unless your idea of a good read is gossip and SHOCKING rock star revelations surrounded by pretty dull criticism.

The weird thing about 'Dark Stuff' is that in the process of re- editing and rewriting history he came out like an even more mind- fogged stoned stumblebum than he probably was at the time! His attempts at 'musicological' criticism re Miles is either hilarious or excruciatingly embarrassing, although props for including the story about making an absolute total twat of himself in front of a distinctly unimpressed Keef. More stories like that would've helped.

He also writes for the Paris newspaper Libération. Usually record reviews on Saturdays. Some of them are ok, others are not so good.
