It's Flashback Friday on the hits station, and "Crush on You" by the Jets came on. What a song! I love the bump up to falsetto for the chorus, very precarious, about to fall off key but never quite does.

Other Jets songs to look out for?

Is this the 1960s British band the Jets, or the other Jets, who until recently I'd never heard of, but were apparently more famous?

Most of the other Jets songs I remember are slow and sappy, but "Crush on You" is undeniably great.

Their first album is EXCELLENT! Almost all of their singles are fantastic; search out "Curiosity", "You Got It All", "Cross My Broken Heart" and "Make It Real". ESPECIALLY "Curiosity"; it's like the lost Nu Shooz single.

Not the 60s band; this is an 80s outfit.

"You Got It All", "Cross My Broken Heart" and "Make It Real" = sappy

"Cross My Broken Heart" is uptempo, though. It's hard to be sappy when you're shakin' what your mama gave ya.

Oh... this is the one Aaron Carter covered, yes?

Mr Swygart, Friday, 7 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nicole, that's what makes them GOOOD!

"Make It Real", in particular, slays me.

Thing is, I remember "You Got It All," but I can't remember *anything* else by them. And this was when I was heavily immersed in Top 40 and their songs were on all the time. Strange.

How did you know
Cuz I never told
You found out
I Got a CRUSH ON YOU
No masquerade
My heart's been displayed
You found out
I got a CRUSH ON YOU

You must have heard it
From my best friend
She's always talkin'
When she should be listenin'
Can't keep a secret
To save her life
But still I trusted her
With all I felt inside
I never knew
A rumor could spread so fast
But the way you moved
Was so self-assured
You knew I would surrender!

(Go go gadget trivia!)

I remember liking that one way back when. I never heard anything else by them, I think it's their only song that got 'big' in the UK. The only things I think know is that they were one of those ridiculous 20-piece badnds, and were all Mormons.
