lol indie!

seriously... in the vein of sublime eps such as "watery, domestic", "a brief history of amazing letdowns", and probably something else equally obscure and amazing is Human Television's "All Songs Written By:"

i have no idea how this ep made it's way onto my computer but it is really great floridian (now brklyn?) twisted jangle pop, very subversive hooks that work their way deep into the lobes.

i know pretty much nothing about these guys other than their more recent work is not as good as this (random tidbit i heard somewhere).

you feelin it?

Hi Steve. Funny you posted about this... I just danced around to Anoraak djing at some house party in Brooklyn last night with Billy the lead singer. "All Songs Written By..." is incredible. I'd suggest their debut three-song EP as well called "Orange," which was one of Soft Abuse's first releases. (Soft Abs doesn't do much pop anymore, unless the right thing comes along... They mostly release Jewelled Antler stuff and Pumice and that sort of thing).

I like "Look At Who You're Talking To" as well (their last album), but maybe just because I followed them all the way up and just really like the way he writes songs. I think the label dropped the ball on it (Gigantic seems to do that), and then the band just sort of lost interest and they've only played once since 2007. I'd say they're officially broken up.

Lately, Billy's been doing small projects, but the songs are always pretty good. Skin Tightener is good lo-fi pop and he had some funny project he did with the keyboardist that was pure noise music that he'd play pop songs under.

But, I've coaxed Billy out of hiding, and he'll be playing some choice Human Television songs on 2/17 at Black Betty's.

love the 'all songs written by' EP.. IMO one of the true classic indie EPs as SS says above. the album has high points but is definitely weaker.

I'm kinda confused, all the songs on the Orange EP show up on All Songs Written By:, right?

Are they alt./demos? Different enough to warrant listening?

Which songs off the full-length are recommendable?
