I don't want to derail this topic but I'm going to see an opera tonight with my classical music friend. Can yall suggest some experimental violin I can download for the car ride? Or something - just not as traditional. Even if it's a skronk jazz song with a great violin section. Thanks :)

"Tony Conrad stepped outside the Dream Syndicate one time on December 19, 1964, when he recorded four overdubbed tracks of supremely grating violin screech drone of the highest kind--just the most visceral veils of undulating reality sparkle you could ever dream of floating through."

Captain Lorax, try George Crumb's Black Angels for best results

dad a, Wednesday, 28 January 2009 21:17 (seventeen years ago)

At first I thought this Black Angels sounded like only scraping violin (ugh), but then I realized thats only the first track. I could see this album being a grower.

Didn't we already spaz out and have a clusterfuck thread over this back when the article was published, like a year and a half ago?

Dear Tacos, how are you? I am fine. The weather is nice. I miss yo (Oilyrags), Wednesday, 28 January 2009 21:40 (seventeen years ago)

I think I was looking more for violin stuff that isn't of its typical genre... like He Poos Clouds

CaptainLorax, Wednesday, 28 January 2009 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

The already mentioned Revolutionary Ensemble might be worth a look.
