Yes it's great that we get to talk about "A Stroke of Genie-Us" and "Magnificent Romeo" and all the other stuff that wound up on "The Best Bootlegs In The World" mix, but what about:

Indeep vs. Michael Jackson, "Last Night Billie Jean Saved My Life" (DAMN this is great)
Sly and the Family Stone vs. Lo-Fidelity All Stars, "Morse Gets Booty" (mixes "Dance to the Music" with "Lo Fi's In Ibiza"- really noisy)
Freelance Hellraiser, "Musical Know How" (Madonna vs. Young MC- this uses a "Theme From Shaft" sample to great effect)
Strokes vs. Missy Elliott, "Hard to Freak On" (Uses a bit too much of the original vocals at the end, but I still like it)
Beck vs. AC/DC, "Highway Bizness" (It's great because AC/DC is sped up so it sounds like Bon Scott's doing a falsetto of sorts)
McSleazy, "Intergalactic Camberwell" (Beastie Boys vs. Basement Jaxx, now my 2nd fave Jaxx boot)
Eminem vs. Prodigy, "Breathe Without Me" (HOLY SHIT)
Sonic Youth vs. Christina Aguilera, "Dirty Bottle" ("Genie" vs. "Dirty Boots"- "Stroke of Genie-us" made Aguilera sound all '80s New Wave Pop, but this makes her sound like straight-up psychedelic indie rock and is possibly even more amazing than Freelance Hellraiser's efforts)
My apollylogies if I didn't get the right titles or include who the bootleggers were 'cos I forgot. Audiogalaxy can do that sometimes.

Man I hope there's a "Best Bootlegs in the World Vol. 2"

Nate Patrin, Saturday, 8 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The question for everyone is, have you heard Don't Stop Till You Get Enough Vs Breath and Stop and if not why not.

The very notion of Breath Without Me and Em vs the Prodigy sounds so so right though.

"Intergalctic Camberwell" is awful, in my view. Mcsleazy has done so much better.

Anyway, how about...

"One Phat Breeda" (One Phat Diva vs The Breeders)

"I Wish I Was A Bulldog" (Skee-Lo vs The Beatles)

"Passing It Up" (Pharcyde vs Violent Femmes)

Damn stupid Audiogalaxy not having "Passin' It Up" online (currently). And as far as Beastie boots go Soulwax's mash-up of "Body Movin'" with Maceo & the Macks is better. I do like how "Intergalactic Camberwell" loops "Beastie Boys known to let the beat let the beat let the beat let the beat..." for a bit.

Nate: who needs Audiogalaxy? http://www.djpsycho.de/beta/bootlegs.html. I'll try and fine that Pharcyde/Femmes booty for you somewhere. Cannae remember where I got it from now.

I find the Eminem / Breath slick but too obvious. I just love the Eminem vs. ragtime piano one.

The one that mixes Tom's Diner over Groovejet etc. is very cute.

Also the Missy Eliot / Love Will Tear Us Apart is my definitive bootleg.

don't forget french bloke's craig david vs. fischerspooner.

also, soulwax's 'the message' vs. 'no diggity' doesn't do anything that novel or inventive, but it does sound damn fine.
