Who else here likes Plumtree?

I thought Plumtree's last album, _This Day Won't Last At All_ was excellent and deserved more attention than it got. Some critics said that, while the record was nice enough, it didn't bring anything new to the table. But to me, an album with this much heart and intelligence and skill is still noteworthy and still, in its own way, a breath of fresh air.

I put this album away for a few months, and when I listened to it again, it still rocked my socks. It's a shame that the band broke up, just as they were hitting their stride and putting out some damn good tunes.

So, yeah. Any Plumtree fans out there?

because plumtree was a village not far from me in nottingham, i picked up the scott pilgrim single on a whim and think it's ace! no great shakes as a band, but enjoyable all the same...

They were and still are terribly cute girls from Halifax who won a TYV (Youth Television) contest way back when. Had a wonderful single called "Go" which was not a Tones on Tail cover. Broke up either shortly before or after one of them went on an exchange program to teach english in Japan (Hiroshima ken), I am really starting to think that exchange program is out to ruin my fucking life.
Anyways one or two of the remaining members are now on Endearing records in the band Bontempi if I remeber right.
I dont think I ever forgave them for not driving through a snow storm to play a show in New Brunswick.

a friend of mine used to play in piggy, calypso orchestra of the maritimes ... they played a couple of shows with plumtree and apparently they're very sweet, nice girls. they have a video too, don't they?

They have two or more I thought. They are fairly nice, Im not sure Id say sweet, hell they like my pal Jon so they can't be too sweet.
So who was your friend in Piggy? shit there was like 12 of them.
Piggy RAWK! I never realized how similar Calypso and disco were until I danced all concert long once. Too bad they were only legendary in the east.

my friend neil was with them on clarinet ... i'm not sure for how long but it sounds like quite a while. he lasted through a number of their cassette-only releases (and shows opening for sloan etc)

i think the coolest thing about piggy was that subversive political stance that was really cutting despite being pretty happy music ...

Darn, I didn't know him. Ended up meeting a fair number of them through pure virtue of them all being in 5 or 6 other bands. Still the only band to sing a rocking tribute to Emma Goldman that i know of.

one year passes...
believe it or not, my name really is Scott Pilgrim. Search my name on yahoo for the hell of it one time and ran across this band with a song title with my name. Kinda crazy. I'm curious about who the Scott Pilgrim they refer to is. Anyway, just thought I'd throw it out there because I'm bored.

Pilly
