Leoncie is so awesome. She can speak Icelandic, English, and whatever they speak in Goa (Tagalog?)...

But she brings up so many questions!! How old is she? Her face is ageless, but her body says "40s." What is her real hair like? She always wears wigs... How skilled on the keys is she? She gives us hints that she's awesome, but never goes full virtuoso...

I saw Leoncie play last night at Catch 22 on Kingsland Road. I think it might well have been her first London show - certainly the first I'm aware of since I started listening to her stuff about 6-7 years ago.

Obviously it was just her singing to a backing track. Obviously she comes across an incredibly odd. But what a voice! Seriously. The event was only spoiled by about 100 Shoreditch twats whooping it up with their distressingly asymmetrical haircuts, but hey, if you can't cope with that, don't go to Shoreditch, I guess.

I dunno. I think she's amazing. The fact that the videos are funny and the lyrics faintly ridiculous kind of obscures the fact that music's really interesting. Complex, even.
