Love lots of stuff on this, but I think Finer Feelings might be my favourite.

Great album, I'll take the shuddery feedback in "Ghost" over any of the soul/pop tracks, though.

this is one of those kind of albums where every song will probably get a vote. really want to go with the cocaine induced "My Little Japanese Cigarette Case" or the Neil Diamond sounding "The Underdog" but my vote is going to "Don't Make Me A Target."

Finer Feelings, but could've been Ghost, Cherry Bomb, Rhthm & Soul or Black Like Me. Fucking brilliant album.

Have voted for Don't You Evah as I luff it, but suspect it will do fairly poorly compared to others as it's a cover.

Also, what's the guy on the cover doing? Where is he?

Aha; I was always torn between the idea that he was a painter / sculptor, or about to refuel an airplane.

Have only heard this and Gimme Fiction, and this blows that out of the water imo. Much love for almost every track... except Don't You Evah. Great sequencing, especially the rock/art/pop triple punch of the first three tracks. Miserablist me would prob go for Black Like Me but I'll be upbeat today and vote Cherry Bomb.

Gimme Fiction has some great minimalist grooves, like bits of Can cut into really neat edible Texas garage chunks.

My most listened lately is Series Of Sneaks, the sound quality is amazing, especially on headphones.

I love all the Spoon albums I've got, but A Series Of Sneaks is just incredible.

Giving it a go, and yeah it's got something. Liking the 14 tracks in 33 mins aesthetic.

A Series Of Sneaks is a weird one to get your head around. It took me 2 or 3 listens to really "get" it, because it seems like every song has got one really catchy verse, one really catchy chorus, and that's it.

Girls Can tell & Kill The Moonlight are both really good, too. Think I might prefer KTM over GCT, but only just. I own Telephono but haven't listened enough to it, or Soft Effects & Love ways.

Everything they've done since Telephono (which is like an apprentice record) is great, and worth your time, honest.

I'll probably go Cherry Bomb, but Eddie's Ragga is a wicked track that will probably not get the love here--but that bassline!

Soft Effects is really worth a listen if you dig their earlier stuff. I haven't heard Love Ways or Telephono though.

i really liked KTM, and to a slightly lesser extent GCT, but this is the one that finally made me a believer. underdog, target, black like me, don't you evah, finer feelings (Commercial Appeal shout out lol), are all awesome, but i gotta go with cherry bomb.

Love Spoon! What most impresses me about them is that they seem much more competent in the studio than other bands. Their recordings always sound amazing, and they know how to use the studio as an instrument.

It's not my favorite, but "Rhythm & Soul" sounds great right now (literally and figuratively).

Speaking as an Austinite who got into Spoon around the time Telephono was released, Soft Effects is head and shoulders above the other two here. Great all the way through, not a second wasted.

I saw a Spoon show a couple years ago where the first encore was Soft Effects, front to back, it was fucking great...

Sooooo wrong. It's just a nice little ditty! Everything else on this album is either fraught with emotional tension, or buoyant and air-punchingly fun.

Nah, "Don't You Evah" and "Black Like Me" are the only ones that hint at something dark.

Really don't hear it in Don't You Evah. What About Japanese Cigarette case? The long long instrumental build up to the chorus which just ratchets up the tension? And then 'let all my memories be gone', something that would rather be forgotten = something dark.

Just listening to Rhythm and Soul and heard a great little detail I hadn't noticed before, at 2:55 (and a few times before but not as clearly), two tiny snippets of cut up and cut off vocal echoes. Barely noticeable in passing but now I hear them I think they provide a little sinister edge.

"Finer Feelings," but for me this album is a total A+, I adore every second of it, gets better w/every play, etc.

Finer Feeling & Black like me are by far the most played songs on my ipod, with playcounts in the high 40s. I've had times, when listening to the album in my car, that I've replayed those last two songs 5 or 6 times in a row.

"The Underdog" turns up prominently in the new "Spider-man" movie, which is pretty, well, prominent placement for a Merge act.

GAx5 is on Merge, but Spoon are back on Matador these days.

....so I wouldn't consider them a Merge act if they're signed to a different label.

Damn, cherry bomb really ran away with this one. I would've picked don't make me a target, which has a truly masterful build, but i could've voted for like 6 or 7 others.
