I only opened this to vote for "You Can Do Magic" and it's not even here!

Haha didnt know what I was thinking. I found this album amidst my dad's record collection and it all sounds so antiseptic to me I thought ilx would enlighten me.

Ventura Hwy is pretty

Pinto Basin, Friday, 6 February 2009 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

probably Ventura, followed closely by SGH and Tin Man.

now is the time to winterize your manscape (will), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:04 (seventeen years ago)

Ventura is #2

Sister Golden Hair pwns all

PappaWheelie V, Friday, 6 February 2009 20:07 (seventeen years ago)

Ventura/SGH/Tin Man are *so* good that it's really a shame that everything else they did is so boring. I want to live in the theoretical world where these guys were reliably good songwriters.

I think I'm gonna pick Ventura. Is there a reason why big ben in that picture?

history of america = people used to be from london -> become fake cowboys -> move to san francisco

I wanna be a cowboy
and you can be my cowgirl

"Sister Golden Hair" is a perfect 'hot damn am I lonely or what' long-gap-between-relationships song.

I loved this album when it came out though I haven't listened to it in eons. Looking over the list, Sister Golden Hair definitely stands out, though.

It is not enough to love mankind – you must be able to stand (Michael White), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

Also it is one of the few that doesn't have lyrics like "Alligator lizards in the air...IN THE AIR!" I mean those are amusing but I wish they'd have not done it as much.

yeah, their lyrics are so atrocious most of the time.

xpost
history of america = people used to be from london -> become fake cowboys -> move to san francisco

well, yes, true but that kinda misses the fact that they were the kids of US Air Force officers stationed in the UK so the America thing was wasn't totally fake

that's not my post, Saturday, 7 February 2009 04:11 (seventeen years ago)

Well wasnt that off, then. At first I noticed Ventura Highway as the highlight because it had some kind of balearic sound, and I thought ilx would definitely dig that, so I'll use that song as an excuse to start the poll. Listening to Golden Hair after completely overlooking it. It's quite good.

Is it bad if I think Muskrat Love has some redeeming qualities?

Moka, Saturday, 7 February 2009 08:19 (seventeen years ago)

Classic Rock radio plays several of these songs daily now, but wouldn't have touched any of it except "Horse" in the pre-classic era. Horse With Name was the first song I learned on guitar. I think it takes two fingers making two chords.

I voted "Golden Hair" because i got so damned depressed.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

"Sister Golden Hair" by a huge margin, I think I've gone on about it on another thread but the riff is like pure concentrated longing. I could do without the boogie ending though.
