For my school art exam, we have to draw a picture based on lyrics from a song, and the Powers-that-be are going to be astounded at the number of thirteen and fourteen year olds who are doing sixties and seventies songs. Tons of my friends have asked me to help them with words, so they end up with freaky psychedelic Pink Floyd or King Crimson words. Are they just uninspired, or is it just that all the limited good lyrics have been used?? They can't all have the word 'fuck' three times in every line!!?

No modern music has no lyrics.

I'd pick some song in a language I didn't understand. Or an elfpower song.

It could have something to do with people discovering marijuana around this time in their lives, but i dunno.

Rock is about sex. The more fuck is used in a line, the more RAWK it is!

So, for "The Wall", you could draw a wall, and for "See Emily Play", you could draw Emily, like, playing. If you did modern music, how are you gonna draw "Boutylicious". Hmmm? What does getting on of freak look like? Hiss boo to modern music. Yay for both prog and art students, the two best things evah. Behind Ben Elton and rugby, obviously.

Um I think I can draw a pretty good picture of "Get Ur Freak On" but maybe that's just me.

I should imagine doing a picture of Get Yr. 9 Lb. Cock On would be easier.

Dom, you are so funny. Anna - tell all the boys to draw "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction".

about a billion silver jews lyrics could be paintings I'd do a painting based on the lyric 'I could have wrapped that pillow around your head' by the tindersticks

I presume that Anna and her friends will be drawing lots of elves and wizards.

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 10 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The easy answer - trace the cover of the £1 Penguin Classics version of Wuthering Heights and claim you were inspired by Kate Bush.

Mr Swygart, Monday, 10 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

anna anna get them to draw "ladies of the road"!!

mark s, Monday, 10 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Joe, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That's a good idea! - although it's gotten to the stage where I plan to tell the next one to do "Daddy take a banana tomorrow is Sunday" (which incidentally my brother insists he would do). As for me, I'm doing words from "Cirkus" on Lizard.
