I thought it was cool a few years ago when Mandy did that covers album, and completely alienated her former fanbase by covering XTC, Todd Rundgren, The Waterboys, etc. Also, I like "Candy" fwiw.

Ryan is such a drama queen, and writes and records far too often. But when he's on, he's really on. I could distill the best of his stuff onto an 80 min cd and he'd sound like a genius. Not sure how much to deduct from his score for the mountains of unforgiveable garbage, though.

One was on Entourage and in that awesome movie Saved! (and I don't know her music). The other one sucks balls.

Mandy is cute and had some good tunes. Ryan looks like Fred Armisen in drag and is boring.

Both had articles written about them in No Depression but only Mandy's caused dozens of stick-up-the-ass subscribers to pitch a fit. So Mandy obv.

this phrasing is funny to me. were there pop kids still paying attention to MM as a singer at that point that were actually alienated by her covering '80s college rock?

'candy' was awesome and all but then she turned into this person who was all 'oh chart music is meaningless pap' which just seemed... both boring and assholish considering where she'd come from?

There was an unfortunate James Brown influence on the rhythm track but the Yes-like harmonics balanced it out.

i would worry if i ever started fretting about how rockist mandy moore comes across in interviews.

ryan adams made some great music with whiskeytown and his first solo album. but then dopped off a cliff. < mandy was hot/is still hot.

I really liked that Mandy Moore take on "Breaking Us in Two," actually. But I'd not compare it to 90% of the Gold album. (He lost me somewhere between Demolition and Rock N Roll; a friend's trying to convince me to give his Cardinals albums a chance.)

Newlyweds Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams enjoy a romantic stroll through Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills on Friday morning (April 3).

The couple, who celebrates their one-month anniversary next Friday, haven’t been on a honeymoon yet but Mandy is a-okay with that!
