A radio station around here played a kermit the frog song (unfortunately not "it ain't easy (being green)") over and over for two days straight while they changed formats.

There's a good radio station? I didn't think prog ever got played on radio...

Anna Rose, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But surely, Anna, that station deal was the ultimate in prog. Time changes every seven seconds!

In the 70s (I believe) Flo and Eddie did the same thing for real on KMET or KLOS (Los Angeles). Their thing was that it was the first few seconds of songs, where you just realized what song it was, were the best and the rest of the song a let-down, relatively. So that's what they did -- played enough of the start of songs to be recognizable, then which to another song. It was very fun listening, with only occasional pissedoffedness that a song you really liked was being yanked.

Flo and Eddie channeling the Residents (circa The Commercial Album)? Or the Residents getting their idea for The Commercial Album from Flo and Eddie?

Probably not but still an interesting thought, no?

When was the Residents LP released? I'm pretty sure I hadn't even heard of them at that time, so I wouldn't have been able to bust Flo & Eddie if they were copying.
