this label completely passsed me by until midtown 120 blues but everything i've looked at seems great, middle ground between smacky house, the good end of post rock and electronic noodlery. Anyone any reccomendations from them?

kuniyuki takahashi's album all these things from last year, most definitely! lovely pastoral, dreamy, slightly jazzy, slightly deep stuff - lots of pianos and murmured soulful vox and lush acoustic arrangements. like if that air france ep everyone went nuts over had opted for adult sophistication over regressive childlike bollocks.

discogs says mule musiq released lydia lunch's album in japan in 2006, wtf.

the mule musiq comp "my favorite things" was sort of boring imo

this one

the mule comp of terre thaemlitz tracks "you ... again?" looks great though

you? again?

yeah, you...again? is brilliant - i think i might like it better than the dj sprinkles work.

that thaemlitz comp looks brilliant, been looking for A Crippled Left Wing Soars With The Right for a while

I think I prefer you.. again? to Midtown 120 Blues but I've only listened to Midtown a few times and some of the tracks seem to be dragged out too long maybe. You Again is a good compilation of more dancefloor orientated work.

I liked some of the Dublee works, Pseudo Harmonia + the remixes, Basic Soul Unit - Tunnels, the You...Again remixes by Loco Dice, Shinedoe and Max Mohr, "I'm Starting To Feel OK" had some great tracks on it too, namely the amazing Tensnake 'Keep Belevin'' which came out on Endless Flight that put out Betty Botox and Optimo's Walkabout.

Both of the mix CDs on Endless Flight (Walkabout and Force of Nature's Force Behind the Power) have been great so far; based on that I'm really looking forward to the next one, Stefan Goldmann's The Empty Foxhole.

Absolutely. The Empty Foxhole has a great-looking tracklist. I also thought Goldmann's album was one of last year's best.

Koss' Ring is my favorite of what I've heard from Kuniyuki Takahashi. The two comps--My Favorite Things and A Year of Mule Electronic--are both a bit spotty. Lawrence's Lowlights of the Past and Future is an awkward collection of singles (many from other labels) and remixes. I don't really like the way it's slapped together even though I love many of the tracks. Definitely looking forward to his proper full-length for Mule later this year.

sly mongoose, 'snakes & ladder' is a total classic, all mixes good (not just the rub n tug one that got all the play).

karou inoue's 'the secret field' 12" had one of those epic todd terje remixes on it. the ame remix of 'earth' by koss wass a bit of a slept-on track from last year.

How 'bout that IMPS remixes album? It's on sale for pretty cheap and certainly has the star studded cast to back it up.

hrm, didn't realize endless flight was a sub-label of mule. i like pretty much everything i've heard so far on endless flight, especially that tensnake 12" and the betty botox stuff. also the new soft rocks- 'essra'- is pretty good, though more along the lines of tensnake or something than their previous stuff.

mule is pretty great too, of course. the henrik schwarz remix of kuniyuki's "dear african sky" was one of my favorite tracks last year. anyone heard the recent kza (force of nature) mix cd, 'stocks on deck'?

all-seeing eye of horus (psychgawsple), Thursday, 26 February 2009 03:55 (sixteen years ago)

yeah the KZA mix is v. good, though it's got a similar BALEARIC REVIVAL 101 feel to the Fred Deakin Balearica mix, which it sounds almost exactly like.
