Jesus Christ, this is THE ONLY ONE devoted to The Sweat in ILM's history?!

Let's talk about "Make It Last Forever," "Twisted," "I Want Her," and other New Jack masterstrokes.

R&B radio was much sexier in the late 90s than it is now.

"Nobody" is actually not one of my favorites.

"I Want You," "Make It Last Forever," and "I'll Give All My Love To You" are mega classic.

Been ignoring this guy for years, but now I'm looking to make up for lost time. What are the best albums to start with?

Evan R, Tuesday, 3 July 2012 19:45 (thirteen years ago)

The first two and the one with "Nobody" and "Twisted." A good comp will do.

1996's self-titled album is the one I've been playing the most, but 1996 was such a glorious time for R&B (Another Level, One in a Million, The Bachelor, etc.) that I can't tell if I'm just enjoying it because I love the aesthetics of the era so much. I've always been colder on new jack swing, especially the ultra-mechanical early new jack swing, so I'm wondering if I'm better off sticking with his mid-90s output.

Evan R, Tuesday, 3 July 2012 20:16 (thirteen years ago)

It depends. As much as I love Babyface his productions got identikit real fast.

haven't seen anyone talk about his new song from a few months ago -- a little formulaic but it hits all the right spots

btw "make you say ooh" is still so great

Keith Sweat has one of the coolest voices in all RnB. I tend to play this song and most of Make It Last Forever on repeat a few times in a row when I start feeling Sweaty.

My friend says that whenever he plays Keith Sweat at work, the older black folks comment, "Keith Sweat is the type of dude who cries while he's fucking"

lol

Also thanks Andy K for the early 80s Sweat. I love everything he sings.
