This will be my first SXSW. I'm playing at the Presbyterian church on Saturday, and possibly some other places. I'm pumped.

I usually avoid official sxsw stuff. But last year I did see the Ohsees at a backyard kegger a few blocks from my place. That was cool.

Naked Musicians Running Amok at the Hilton Early This AM

Police were called in at 2:45 this morning after two members of the band Iglu & Hartly, in town for SxSW, were found running around the Hilton downtown, and playing the 6th floor piano, in the nude. Hotel staffers asked Michael Anderson Jarvis and Samuel Martin to put their clothes on; when that didn't work, security was called. Jarvis then punched the hotel security guard three times. Jarvis (his band bio says his name is Jarvis Anderson) has been charged with felony assault on a public servant.

Rentacops are public servants now?

In Austin during SXSW, all hotel employees are deputized.

Devo killed it tonight, the most pure fun I've had all week.

Tricky (on the same bill) was laughably bad.

School of Seven Bells were chill inducingly great.

The Thermals were quite enjoyable.

The Hold Steady was, well, the Hold Steady.

Seeing Metallica and Devo in one night was pretty hot.

Grizzly Bear at the church was by far the best thing I've seen here.

Erykah Badu played for all of 2 songs/10 minutes, was over an hour late.

The ONE band I was dying to see canceled: Belong.

how was the six finger satellite show? that was their first gig with the new lineup...

I was there, along with maybe 50 other people in a small warehouse/club. It was pretty enjoyable, a nice gritty palate cleanser to end a hugely busy week. Sounded a bit more punk/hardcore influenced, a bit less proto-DFA than an album like, say, Severe Exposure. But it was good stuff.

I also never saw the original lineup so can't really compare.
