This will be my first SXSW. I'm playing at the Presbyterian church on Saturday, and possibly some other places. I'm pumped.

St3ve Go1db3rg, Thursday, 19 February 2009 18:03 (seventeen years ago)

I usually avoid official sxsw stuff. But last year I did see the Ohsees at a backyard kegger a few blocks from my place. That was cool.

Naked Musicians Running Amok at the Hilton Early This AM

Police were called in at 2:45 this morning after two members of the band Iglu & Hartly, in town for SxSW, were found running around the Hilton downtown, and playing the 6th floor piano, in the nude. Hotel staffers asked Michael Anderson Jarvis and Samuel Martin to put their clothes on; when that didn't work, security was called. Jarvis then punched the hotel security guard three times. Jarvis (his band bio says his name is Jarvis Anderson) has been charged with felony assault on a public servant.

Past a Diving Jeter (Dr Morbius), Friday, 20 March 2009 20:48 (sixteen years ago)

Rentacops are public servants now?

Thrills as Cheap as Gas (Oilyrags), Friday, 20 March 2009 20:57 (sixteen years ago)

In Austin during SXSW, all hotel employees are deputized.

f. hazel, Saturday, 21 March 2009 00:56 (sixteen years ago)

Devo killed it tonight, the most pure fun I've had all week.

Tricky (on the same bill) was laughably bad.

School of Seven Bells were chill inducingly great.

The Thermals were quite enjoyable.

The Hold Steady was, well, the Hold Steady.

ilxor, Saturday, 21 March 2009 08:30 (sixteen years ago)

Seeing Metallica and Devo in one night was pretty hot.

Lyndsay NAGL (Whiney G. Weingarten), Saturday, 21 March 2009 09:03 (sixteen years ago)

Grizzly Bear at the church was by far the best thing I've seen here.

St3ve Go1db3rg, Saturday, 21 March 2009 16:50 (sixteen years ago)

Anyone see Exene? LOVVVVVVVE her new stuff

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Sunday, 22 March 2009 07:04 (sixteen years ago)

Erykah Badu played for all of 2 songs/10 minutes, was over an hour late.

She had a STALKER!

Here's the scoop: http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/03/erykah-badu-sxs.html

ilxor, Sunday, 22 March 2009 08:38 (sixteen years ago)

The ONE band I was dying to see canceled: Belong.

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 22 March 2009 08:45 (sixteen years ago)

how was the six finger satellite show? that was their first gig with the new lineup...

鬼の手 (Edward III), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 16:28 (sixteen years ago)

I was there, along with maybe 50 other people in a small warehouse/club. It was pretty enjoyable, a nice gritty palate cleanser to end a hugely busy week. Sounded a bit more punk/hardcore influenced, a bit less proto-DFA than an album like, say, Severe Exposure. But it was good stuff.

ilxor, Wednesday, 25 March 2009 05:53 (sixteen years ago)

I also never saw the original lineup so can't really compare.
