i can never figure out if Xgau is being too stingy calling everything that's not an A a dud, or if he's being too generous by giving out so many A's.

Sasha Fierce (Music World/Columbia) In truth, there are three good songs on this 11-track artifact, and deeply vapid though the split-personality bit is, the trick of dividing the album into two CDs does leave a 17-minute dance disc that can be played without gastric distress by any purchaser who isn't picky about diva gangstaism or videophone porn. But me, I'm a hater, and thus I'm something like outraged, by not just those two pimp-outs but an "Ave Maria" lacking even the dumbstruck literalism of Pink's rendition or the grotesque conversion of "Umbrella" into "Halo." Interpreted autobiographically, this halo seems to adorn Jay-Z, who elsewhere inspires little romantic realism or romantic bliss in his bride. In fact, two of the good songs are rather hard on Jeezy's gender, and mine. When in the third Be claims she's in love with her radio, you can only wonder at her determination to live in the past. B

i don't get the umbrella -> halo thing, this is the second time someone has brought it up. agreed totally that "ave maria" is completely useless

he liked his previous album, iirc. has anybody even heard this new one?

well, the new Legend isn't as good as the one before it, so he's not wrong.

Yeah, the Revolver is by far the worst Legend album yet.

Voted Robin Thicke cause I played it yesterday in the sunshine and that album + springtimeliness = mad positive feelings. Might have voted Solange otherwise. I like the LaBelle, Kanye, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, and Jazmine albums, too, roughly in that order.

I like the Thicke album more but I voted for Pink because I think it's real slept on, I don't know if the teenpop livejournal krew or anyone out there is real into it but I think it's great.

ugh! i liked "So What" as a single, but didn't care for the album at all. her previous disc was much better, imo.

it gets on my nerves at times but the 2nd half (It's All Your Fault, Mean, Glitter In The Air, etc.) is full of gems.

i voted kanye but also highly support los campesinos and t-pain (best pop album of the year behind 808s)

why does he bring up jeezy in that beyonce review? does he mean jigga?
